CZ threshold

Gil

Member
The manual ground balancing method. With all the knobs set in the correct positions & the disc. set to the autotune, I don't know if I'm doing something wrong but I can't get a constant threshold. I get a threshold that would sound like a prospecting one in an X-Terra 70. The machine works great in the push button method & it works in the manual method. Can anyone tell me what to expect for a threshold sound. When I adjust the sensitivity, I don't seem to get a constant threshold. I just get the sound that is in the autotune. I don't know if I'm explaining this correctly. Can anyone help me out?

Thanks Gil

If I recall correctly, from reading instruction for my 6a, once sensitivity is changed, you should do a quick retune.

Which CZ do you have?

Someone with a precise answer will want to know.

Thanks for the reply,I guess I should have put that in my post,, thanks for the help

It's a CZ5..

Gil..can you kinda explain what you are looking for when describing the 'constant threshold' vs what you mean by 'the sound in autotune ' ? . Are you looking for a constant, smooth threshold when in autotune mode ? You may have the correct sound but may be expecting something else. I know that the threshold sound of my Whites is not the same as the CZ.

Is the autotune sound in and out...meaning sometimes it goes silent ?

You need to set the sens to it's highest when ground balancing, and then you can back off until there is just a slight sound emitting in auto tune. Mine can sometimes be warbled and not smooth and steady all the time, but I can definitely tell the change when the coil goes over a metal target.

You may be doing everything correctly...especially when you state the machine works great in the push button method.

Hi thanks for the help..Yes I guess I was looking for as you said a smooth threshold when I was autotune G B..It's like in and out...goes silent and very faint.I did what you said about setting the sen to its highest then backing off and like you said it warbled and not smooth, but the machine works in both pinpoint G B or the autotune and deep. In pinpoint the threshold is very loud and no doubt when I back it off.. I just couldn't understand why the autotune GB..wasn't the same.

I have been metal detecting a little over a year.. so it's a little hard to ask the question correctly.. thank you for trying to
help and set me straight

Make sure your volume is at 10 for the bobbing ground balance( easier to hear), once balanced set it anywhere you wish..Indeed thresholds from different companies sound different and remember you have no threshold in Disc. mode...I always bob as its a hair more accurate and one wonders if brand headphones you are using are giving you enough volume...As some heaphones just work better on certain units...

Don't know if my method is any better, but I hold the pinpoint button down and move the coil around in a non-metallic area and try to average out the threshhold setting as the ground conditions fluctuate constantly. When I finally get a setting where the threshhold doesn't fluctuate that much, I leave it there. Ken
