CZ setup for "gold only" hunting ?

Hey all.We all know the yellow metal has skyrocketed in price. Recently, I have been paying very close attention to any deep tab/foil signals during my coin hunts.(scored one 14k ring wed night)Saturday, I set up the CZ70 to accept only foil,round/square tabs, and nickles.I searched under school bleachers using the 5" coil,no gold but my nickel haul was very good(cz's kill on nickels). I then tried the same program using the 10.5" coil on a soccer field, lots of canslaw but again no gold. Have most of you tried, or run such a program with good results? I know some gold will hit zinc/high coin, but leaving them accepted slows me down too much when looking for "gold only". Thanks for any comments.

There has been a lot of discussion on this forum about finding gold on inland sites. As you are probably aware, searching for gold on land is a double edged sword because most gold reads out as trash. I'm guessing the trash/gold ratio is about 1000 to 1 or worse. Some people claim that finding gold is not just about digging trash. That is probably true to some degree.

A low percentage of my gold finds have come from inland sites however I'm primarily a beach hunter. On inland sites I have had the most luck finding gold under shade trees however that may be different for other hunters.

Your program would work great at a seashore setting as your chances for gold jewelry are greatly enhanced but in a park with all the junk be prepared for a lot of digging..Sure a large 10kt gold ring could come in as zinc penny but so do zinc pennies and my last hunt the park was full of them so stick with your setting as not many large 10 kt gold rings around compared to all the pennies you will dig..Many use your program at beaches and give up the high coins as one nice gold ring can make up for a lot of high coins...

Those setting sound like a very good way to go in my opinion. Tot lots can turn up gold too. My best areas besides the tot lots have been grass covered high school court yards and behind the goal and mid-sideline areas of soccer fields. Beach areas still really trump the land hunting for gold, at least for me.

much gold. And I don't think you will. I hunted park after park for years and only came up with a few gold. In the water I rarely do not find gold. Lots of reasons why, BUT gold sinks fast in the sand. NOT on the ground where people can find it IF they know they lost it. If you really want to find the yellow stuff, the water is where to be period.
