CZ Performance based on control box/coil combo?

I've been going back thru the CZ pages looking for an answer to this question and I've not found it. Hope a few of you CZ die-hards might know the answer.

Has anybody out there with multiple CZ's with measured performance ever swapped the 8" coils and re-measured to see if there is a change?

I've read about some of the lesser performing detectors out there. Is this trouble internal to the box? Or could it be a poor coil, or a poorly matched coil to the box? The flip side of that, is it possible to get a great coil and place it on a good CZ and make it great?

Indeed I have and lets put it this way CZ coils just don't go bad or out of tune like many other brands for the most part....having said the aforementioned coil covers have been know to collect debris and such and cleaning them out can make a big difference. However those that hip mount could indeed damage the coil connector which may
cause problems...Hope this answers your questions and alleviates any problems you may have.

Thanks Dan, Yes it does help. If I can rephrase, you're saying the performance difference lies within the control housing. And unless there is a legitimate bad coil, swapping coils is not going to help or hurt performance.

Great reminder on the coil covers. I've learned from experience to remove the coil cover frequently and empty the debris and sand that collect there.

I know for a fact Whites coils go out of tune and have to be replaced and Tesoro coils can be tuned to specific units however bad CZ coils are far and few between judging by my usage, readings etc. on the CZ unit in general over the last 20 plus years....
