CZ gold ring test

Many years ago Fisher came out with a chart showing in what category different gold rings fell. I think they used 161 gold rings. Would anyone know where I may get a copy of that chart?......Jack

Not off hand but I know foil segment covered about a third from this particuliar group of a gold ring collection..If its any help it was for the CZ metal detector meter and believe it was in one of the older manuals. If I find it will post...

Dan,

I looked in my original CZ6a manual, and it does not have that 161 ring breakdown...only the picture of where certain targets may hit on the meter and tone ID.

I remember this test, and you are correct in that at least 1/3 if not more of the gold rings hit mid tone and foil on the meter. I also seem to remember that 95% + of those rings were mid or high tone...not sure how many hit as iron low tone.

Saying all that, if you are ring hunting with a CZ, dig ALL mid and high tones regardless of what the meter needle reads. You may be able to cherry pick by only digging mid tones that ID as foil, but you will miss a lot.

I found where that chart is...it's in Andy Sabisch's book Advanced Treasure Hunting with the Fisher Quicksilver Series Metal Detector ( GREAT BOOK THAT ALL CZ USERS SHOULD HAVE !!)...page 49

0 rings hit as Iron
25 rings, 16% hit as Ring Tab
61 rings, 38% as Foil
48 rings, 30% as square tab
15 rings, 9% as Nickel
8 rings, 5 % as Zn penny
4 rings, 2 % as High tone quarter/penny

I hope I did not plagiarize !!
