CZ + FZ 12 Field Use

New member
I have a CZ 70 with FZ 12 coil i use at the beach but i want to try some open field hunting .
I can hit a dime at almost 15in with sen at 6 in air test
In a coin hunt do you notch out iron or let it come through and listen to all sounds for ID
Thanks Mike

My preference with my CZ6a and the FZ-12 is to set the discriminator on the zero setting and listen to all three tones. I seldomly hunt autotune.
That is good on a dime. I get about 11 inches air test with the FZ-12 on the CZ6a on a dime.

Hypothetically, lets say there is a good target that's deep, and it's close to iron. With the CZ's circut you will hear both targets, now with iron notched out, you might end up discriminating out the good target. If you are in a place loaded with iron, and it's keeping you from hearing the deep good targets, then I would notch it in. Remember, CZ's like deep iron, but they love deep silver. Good luck

Thanks for the info i started with no disc dug a metal eyeball at 9in I wish i had pictures Green eye with blood shot red ,white eye

I have seen candy "eyeballs" that look a lot like that but not a metal one. That's one to keep in the box to bring out and start a conversation.
Thanks for the picture!

FZ12 coil is certainly a nice coil providing added depth, easy pinpointing and extreme coverage. Unfortunately Sunray no longer makes the unit.
Second you can do either way and many accept iron to help them to tell when its a rusty deep nail and not a nice silver coin. Many excell either way so I guess its just what you get used to and personally I would learn one way and stick to it as telling those nasty deep rusty nails is doable...
