CZ finds

Haven't seen much action on the CZ forum for awhile. So thought I would post to perhaps get some interest going. I'm not tearing it up, but did find a few silvers this summer. Both barbers were found with my CZ-5, the washington was found with my CZ-3D. Anyone else making any finds with your CZ's ?

Thanks for looking, HH,
Larbear

Silver is always nice, Larbear...
I've only been out a couple times with the 3D, but did find a really nice '57 Rosie the last time.

Maybe I'll get out this weekend. Now that Fall is officially starting, perhaps the hot, baking sun and adobe brick ground will ease up a little.

I hear ya trojdor. Today I dug 4 inches for a wheat penny. The ground was dry and hard as a rock, was wishing I had my rock hammer. Good luck this weekend if you get out.

Wow some action on this forum! I use a CZ70 Pro. So far this season I have 7 silver, 50+ wheats, 1 indian head, tokens, 3 rings(2 junk, 1 silver) Most of the silver and wheats came out of one park that is still giving stuff up every time we go there. 160 acres that was pretty much unhunted before we hit it. Oldest coin so far is a 1903 V nickel. Oldest silver is 1935 mercury dime. Biggest silver is a 1954 washington quarter.

The only rough thing about this park is the beaver tails. The actual tail rings up nickel dead nuts every time. I hunt with nickels notched out fir about half of my hunts because I would literally be digging hundreds of them. I know I am missing some nickels but with the weather turning already up here I want to maximize my time outdoors.

My uncle has a CZ3D which he bought recently. I might try it out next time we go, he also hunts with a Minelab Explorer II and a Garrett GTI 2500.

The 3D I'd good for nickels, better than any machine I have trid. (And believe me, I've trid a few in the last 60 years). Got my CZ3D about eight months ago. Have had several CZs and was wishing I still had some of them, so now I have one, again. Odd thing has happened, it stopped giving the correct reading for clad Penney so I went out today with my AT Pro. Still hot her, didn't stay long.

Old geezer,
Try switching from Enhanced to sand/beach mode. It uses the older CZ 'normal' range for ID-ing zinc pennies. The enhanced range is expanded to the very edge to make sure half dimes and 3-cent pieces aren't lost. But that can let the 'Zincoln' fool the detector. That, and thoses stupid clad pennies will change their TID all over the place when they start 'popping'.

Dad and I still get out several times per month, we have been using either a CZ5 or CZ6 since the late 1990s and have found many good places over the years. We always have the "oldest coin" competition which is usually a battle between a 1940s and 1950s Wheat, but it's still a lot of fun! Trying to get my daughters, nieces, and nephews interested in the hobby, but so far no takers!

It only took one outing with my uncle at age 7 to get me hooked - been swinging ever since LOL!

Started using the Deus almost a year ago - up until then I used the CZ5 and over the years just could not find a machine I liked for all-around hunting. CZs were good in the trash and deep, better than some mid-range modern detectors are nowadays IMO. I learned real quick to dig square pulltab readings near old houses, especially the faint ones - Dad and I had a hunt where both of us found a couple old green Wheats apiece...he had a sharp emerald green 1916 S while mine was a nearly flat 1919 D...he gloated on that one for a long time!

At least for around here there are plenty of places remaining that will turn up shallow old coins - usually the only thing stopped you is permission and time to hunt! GL and HH everyone!
