CZ discontinuation

Why is it when a Fisher Cz model goes out of service nobody comes near it again? I seen 3 CZ 70 pro's up for sale at an exellent prices and yet no ones even comming near them. I just purchased one from a gent and i'll tell you it's the deepest machine i have ever seen going 8-9 inches almost on every thing i dig. In 2 days I've dug 5 indians, 8 wheats and one large cent. This is one great machine.:super:

Hi lizard, I just got one two weeks ago, and they are deep. I have a CZ6a that is certified at 12.3'' and the CZ70 pro will keep up with it.

I think there are a lot of guys caught in limbo, waiting to see if Fisher is introducing a new machine before they pick up a new/used unit. . I'm hanging onto my CZ3D no matter.

Priorities. I have two CZ's as well as other detectors so I'm well equipped for most detecting situations. Just got done putting a new roof and new doors on the house, all 3 cars need tires before it snows, youngest daughter is getting married in August. In a nut shell, that is why I'm passing on a nice, attractively priced, CZ 70 Pro.

I'm sure others have their own reasons.
Cheers,

I think when first texas bought fisher it was headed down the drain from the get go. They have taken the Fisher name and added a new style unit and here is the ever so popular f series unirs. Also I see alot of the cz style fisher units made by first texas that had alot of issues and people complained about having to send them back for repairs. So in my opinion if your going to get a fisher get one from Los Banos and not when first texas bought them out. Also if some of you guys need a part for one of your classic cz models you better hop on the horn with fisher and get it while they still have some available. I do ot know why first texas has not continued with a new model of the dual frequency units. I guess they cannot make some of the things that Los Banos did. HH, Tim

I wouldn't say they're not capable. I think Dave did some of the work on some of the CZ models. I think it's just a matter of new company, new direction.

Forget Los Banos facility, there done. I think FTP is turning around a co. that was doomed and they are working hard at it. Customer service, Q.A. on new units, the performance of the newer F series, etc. is much improved. The phone conversations, and service I have had with them have been good and indicates to me there is a genuine concern to provide a quality product. I look forward to good things from them in the future.

I believe they just took the fisher name and put bounty hunter guts into a new housing and it took off. They seemed to be doing quite good actually but all in all they were the plug in type of coils in the beginning and they were the bounty hunter coils plugs too. I am sure that they would have had a more customer loyalty if they had stuck with some of the classic units and continued with updating them from time to time. I mean the cz series still hold good value used and everyone is a fan of the dual disc units like the 1266 series too. I agree they are good to deal with on the phone and are prompt to get things to you when you need it. Rick in the parts department is especially nice. I am not trying to step on any ones toes here but this is the fisher cz forum and not the f series forum. Tim

I think it could be the new generation of people getting into detecting that don't reconize the CZ brand that are one of the top notch detectors out there. Thier all getting the up to date models and not realizing what thier passing up in getting an older model detector.

The problem with the CZ's is that there are no numbers to read...I mean 10- 44 or 16-99 or what ever is the way to go, so they say....I like the the picture of the pull tab so I don't have to figure out what each number means. As for depth, I will put my CZ 70 Pro
up there with the rest...I was at a park today digging those wonderful pennies at 8 inches and had a great signal...All is all they are the best, but don't have all the horns and whistles, but with that said, I would like to have a newer machine if for no other reason
to learn how to us it and compare it to the CZ's. When someone comes out with a MD that tells you exactly what the target is and exactly how deep it is, I am going to buy it, but until then I will continue to dig those foil reading in hope it is a ring, after all
antisapation is half the fun.

David Johnson invented the multi frequency CZ platform-all variations are variations of his platform.

Actually its the other way around-Los Banos Fisher was down the drain losing lots of money every year ready to fold. Now that FTP has purchased they are one of the most succesfull brands in the industry.

Forgot to add-David Johnson current cheif engineer for FTP designed all the most popular old Los Banos Fisher units-CZ, Gold Bug 2 and the popular 'X' series detector platform; 1212X, 1225X, 1235X, 1265X....

David Johnson created a new line of detectors for Fisher and helped to make a company ready to go bankrupt back on top with his new F series designs that people are actually buying as opposed to the old stuff that just didnt sell and when it did sell was not profitable. FTP rejuvinated the Fisher name and company. Customer loyalty doesnt mean squat when no one buys the products and little money is made off of the few sales due to being outdated designs that are labor intensive and expensive to manufacture.

I thought he did but wanted to make sure first. Who's to say a new CZ-type detector won't come out sometime in the future? It just won't be like the older ones. I like what FTP has done so far. I'm looking forward to see what they come up with next!
