cz-7a pro

can anyone give me some info on this detector? age- - does salt mode work good in wet sand on ocean beaches-- depth compared to a cibola and xlt-- a good price on a used one-- thanks for any info. jamie

Guesstimate of age approx.8- years old was the unit before the CZ70 pro...several inches deeper than units you mention..one of the best wet salt water beach units around on par with a Soverign..Price has a lot to do with condition both cosmetically and workwise...again ballpark $350.00 plus or minus for used.

There is a Notch and a Back Light, and a Auto Tune all metal mode.
Stock coil is 8" and there is a 5" and 10.5" coil.
The 5" is deep, deeper than some units with a 8" coil.
The CZ 7a Pro can be hip or or chest mounted.
Built like a tank....

Hey syclone, just keep an eye out, I picked up a real nice CZ 7 (slightly different, rod mounted instead of detachable and has battery drain if batt left in unlike CZ 7a pro) w/ stock 8" and 10.5 for $320

I own a CZ 7a Pro, it used to be my main machine when i first got it. It is smooth, deep and very stable, i have used garrets in the past and i wish i switched to CZs earlier. Now i use CZ 3d and have 2 of them, both 1021:). The 7a is basically, almost as good as the CZ70 pro from what i hear, although i think the CZ70 was designed to go a bit deeper. There is a video i saw a few posts back with a CZ7a air tested, you might want to look at it.

I can't tell you much about the salt mode, i don't like beach hunting. Like with other CZs, it does take time to get used to when it comes to discerning between deep rusty nails and coins, but with time you can get a very good idea which one is which. The nails (in my opinion) don't produce a clear/sharp/clean/tight signal, meaning the signal doesn't end quite as abruptly once the coil passes.

If you can find a 7a for $350, grab it quick, but definitely don't pay more than $400 for it, get a CZ70 Pro or a 3D, but for $350 there are very few detectors out there that can match it, CZ6a would be one, especially if you prefer analogs like me. I like the fact that it's digital and easy to use, so when i get a newby friend interested in doing some "treasure hunting" the 7a is perfect, while the 3d is a bit tricky and can be a pain for a newby. I guess sooner or later i might have to sell it before it becomes an antique, but since i see many CZ5s still going strong for around $300, i still have time:) I have been giving some serious consideration to selling my other 3d and the 7a and getting a new F75, i hear a lot of good things about it's quick target separation and it's ability to handle iron, but i also hear how unstable and noisy it can be, plus interference etc... So i can't decide.

Any of you hardcore CZ users try the F75 and liked it? It might be a tough transition, and it looks so cheap. Any thoughts? Sorry to hijack this thread for my purposes, but if i can get a good answer, i might as well sell my 7a and 3d and get something different that will supplement my 3d.

Thanks,

Yev

I had all three detectors. The CZ7a Pro I bought off a guy you all know well and said he wished he never sold it in one of his post he wrote. The XLTs I've owned and used never came close to the CZs depth. For me the CZ7a Pro was one of my favorite CZs.I bought a Cibola for a big seeded hunt in Michigan.LOL,after the second hunt I switched to the CZ7a Pro on the remainder hunts and did a hundred percent better.Anyway like Bill I wish I kept that old CZ. Good Luck Ron

I am a CZ 7a Pro owner. It has been a very faithful and wonderful detector. I use it on the beach and for relics. I also use it in the water. I place the main unit in a knapsack sitting it high on my back. I go in waste deep water (or little higher) and it makes for a good fresh water machine. I have had a F75 for a week and I do not like it at all. It chatters too much and many false readings. Even setting the sensitivity down low, it is horrible. Yes, maybe I'm not giving it time, but for one who does not spend every weekend detecting, it is the wrong machine for me (and many.) See my recent post on the "f" forum entitled "a motor scooter or a trail bike with a power-band."

you can try moving to a different area, and also try changing frequencies as well!..you may be experiencing extreme (e.m.i.) at the site you are hunting!..

If you get one of the CZ7A pro's get a 12" coil if you can find one. I did and it has been great. It goes deeper than the stock coil and you will have better sweeps. Just take it slow and select foil, nickle, and coin and you will get the nice gold and silver. Dig those deep targets, and anything that gives a double beep. I have had good luck when hitting deep targets that hit on foil and bounce to nickle, they usually come out to be nice gold rings. A High tone on coin is usually silver coin or silver rings. I use the CZ on land and an Infinium in the water. 40 rings so far this year, 1/3 are keepers, one appraised quite well. Got a couple of nice necklaces also using this method. Good luck.

Have had the 6a, 7,7aPro, and 3D to round out my experiences. All the above info is PERFECT, so I advise you to take the advice! Now, if you want depth and coverage... get the FZ12 as I did! Yes, I do use in the water as well..fresh water and above waist deep...doing fine! Go for it!!!
..best..Rich
