CZ-7A PRO - CZ-70 PRO

Are these 2 different machines? and if so, what is the difference?

They are two different machines. There is little difference between them, other than the Square Tab icon has been replaced with a "Relic" icon that looks like the Texaco star with a dollar sign ($) in the middle of it and they added a 4th tone for that. The idea being that many GOOD things hit in that range and many users who think that only square pull tabs come in there were missing a lot of good stuff.
So if your question is "If I have a CZ-7a Pro should I go and get a CZ-70 Pro?" the answer would be "No, just start digging the square tab signals and you're good to go." The two machines are identical other than the single icon change and the 4th tone.

Nice summation Mike.....one does get a little confused but I think the CZ70 pro has a lifetime warranty while the CZ7A pro came with a 5 year warranty...I have used both and at least in my neck of the woods tough to get sensitivity of CZ70Pro more than four and can get the CZ7A pro up to 8 so I feel the sens. is a little different. In reallity a CZ70Pro will go as deep at 4 as a CZ7A pro at 8 so one wonders if your area would take a CZ70pro over 4 would it go a bit deeper? Just a couple odds and ends to complete your summation and that extra tone is really a wakeup call for that facet on the CZ70Pro

Well then that is also significant, about the warranty. I didn't know that. Might be the impeteus to go ahead and get a CZ-70 for some folks in that case.

The CZ-7a Pro and the CZ-70 Pro both operate at 5 kHz and 15 kHz. They have all the same controls and use the coils are interchangeable. They are essentially the same machine, with the minor difference of the 4th tone and the one different icon. And as some say, the CZ-70 being somewhat more sensitive to having the sensitivity raised above 4. I have also seen this to be true. That doesn't mean it goes deeper. I have two buddies with CZ-7a Pro's and I have the CZ-70. I have never seen one of us get a target that the other one could not get.

Unfortunately Mike no way for me to test as the first time I took out a CZ70 pro thought it was not working right as I had to lower to 4 to keep it stable. We have some bad ground in our area and one wonders if in some states with better ground and one was able to raise sens. over 4 would it go deeper. Have to agree with you almost any CZ will go as deep as another going back to the original CZ6, but I know they changed the sens. parameters on a CZ70 and felt someone with low mineraliation may make a comment..In addendum standing alongside a field with
any CZ model in my hand and deep silver in the field would feel very confidnt.and like you feel no reason to upgrade from a CZ7A pro to a CZ70 pro if the unit is working well as for all purposes basically the same machine..

go much over 4 without it wanting to false with me. I live in Central Florida and the soil here isn't all that mineralized.
Now the C$ could go as high as 8 in most areas without falsing.
The CZ5 about 6 without falsing to the point it was annoying.
Good luck,
Mike

when they first came out and had the same thing here in mild to moderate ground. Couldn't run the sensitivity above 4 or it would false horribly on iron no matter how carefully or slowly you swept the coil.
According to one of the techs at Fisher they updated there tuning procedure on the CZ's. I don't know if that was back then or more recently but every newer CZ I have tried in the last 2-3 years never could run as hot or handle iron as well as the older CZ5's I had. Sure beats me whats going on! <img src="/metal/html/shrug.gif" border=0 width=37 height=15 alt=":shrug">

Yes according to what you have Dan is right
But Dan is wrong according to what I have.
In the same area Dan used his cz70Pro I can use my cz70Pro not set on 4 but set 6 to 8 and even in some places around here all the way to 10.
So I believe its possible Fisher has made some tune up adjustments to the cz70Pro line.
