I want to replace my current coil with a coil that will target gold. or Sell my whole outfit and purchase a detector made to target gold. any Ideas?

From what I can tell the machine is where the frequency is, not the coil. Having said that, the machine operates at 5 and 15 khz. I think the 15 is good for gold but someone else may know more about it than I do.

If your looking for nuggets would suggest getting a gold nugget unit....

From the old school and if your talking about gold jewelry 15khz dual freq. CZ's are as hot on gold jewelry as any...

I cant get mine to pick up gold even if I set the notch like the book says ,I have the 112 ser # with 8"quicksilver coil my coil wire came out of the screw ring type plug-in and CZ said they never heard of this happening and finally after lots of calls they agreed to look at it and it was like $25 shipping plus around $50 to look at it.. that's way to much for me, so they sent me the wire color code and I had it re -soldered to the plug in. It seems to be working fine, I find lots of pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters and silver but it wont pick up gold at all ? Id like to sell it and buy a gold model Taking offers ? cost $1000 new at Kelly co, used price make offer? or trade for gold model

If you are finding nickles, and any type of foil or tabs, then you are finding targets in the conductivity range that much of the gold jewelry falls into. A CZ does well finding many types of gold jewelry. I don't think I would run with any notch if I were looking for gold. If I were just looking for coins, I might notch out tabs. If you are looking for small nuggets, you may want a different detector.

Do you have jewelry that you are testing with the detector and not picking up? If so, do you have any pictures of those test targets that you can post sitting next to a coin so we could see size and dimensions?

Hi hound, dose your cz70Pro pick up pulltabs and small foil ? You might have the one everyone wants for park hunting. Try it and let me know, i might take the wire off mine. Thanks Flintstone

yes picks up all tabs foil and everything else even white gold it wont pick up my gold chain or 14k ring or my friends gold chain .my cheap radio shack detector I use for coins doesn't pick up gold either.

Thin chains are not detected by many detectors. If there is a large clasp on the chain, the clasp may get detected. Most chains I have found had a pendant still attached. The pendant gets detected when the chain is not.

I think that the first thing I would do is to put the CZ-70 in autotune mode (AUTO on the keypad) and test your 14K ring again. Test the chains with autotune too. Then when in discrimination mode (not autotune) take out all notches and try the ring. Some chains or very thin gold may come in at a very low conductivity, maybe even as iron or an iron to foil bounce. Keep in mind, thin chains with very small links are not seen at all by most detectors.

P.S. Here is a link to a pendant with chain that I almost walked away from ... the chain is not detectable by itself, and the pendant bounces between iron and foil. Any notch on iron may make the detector not see one like this at all.
