I have been killing some time waiting for my upcoming surgery and with the price of gas, I decided to rehunt some of my local spots. I really didn't expect much, maybe a wheat penny or two, but I got some decent coins. I have found many old wheats and 5 Barber coins from this area so I knew if I left the shallow loud bangers alone, I might get a few oldies. The first thing I noticed was the wet ground. I got out of my truck and ground balanced the 70 and within the first 10 feet, I dug a 9 inch deep wheat penny. I went 5 more feet and dug another from a similar depth. I noticed a fellow watching me and he came over and followed me. He is a guy who wants a detector bad, but doesn't have the funds. He told me he followed some Explorer guys around the park last month and they found a couple of deep wheats. The next target I dug sounded like deep silver and I predicted to him that and low and behold, it was a 8 inch deep mercury dime. He was shocked and in disbelief because I made the correct prediction. Next target was a deep high tone nickle on the 70 and I dug a 14 k womens ring that was bent up real bad. This guy is getting a real show and he is shell shocked. He didn't think these detectors worked so well. I ended up with 5 more wheats, a silver roosie dime, and a super condition 57 washington quarter. He had sent for the free Whites literature and he wanted a xlt, but I think the CZ 70 changed his mind. I have been running the sens at 6 and with the damp ground, I honestly believe pennies and dimes could be found at close to 12 inches. This spot is also very trashy and the 70 with the stock 8 inch coil did just fine. I can barely creep the coil and pick out coins next to trash. I get a charge out of the people who say the CZ technology is outdated. This detector will still hunt coins with any detector made and with hardly any learning curve. R.L.
