cz 6a vs digital

Hi cz lovers
I had a CZ 6 a few years ago ,it had been converted to a 6a .Love the simplicity also haven't seen a machine with that kind of depth. Got caught up in getting a newer model detector and sold it to Dan PA been through several models since then, big mistake selling it. Didn't know what I had. Simple to operate ,nice loud hits and very very deep. I'm in the the market for oCZ6a but they appear to be more scarce than before so I was thing about a CZ-7a or a CZ-70 you see more of them on the market. I doubt I will find one that's as deep again but was woundering about the ease of operation
and the strenght of the target signal don't hear quite as well as I use to. Also was woundering if there was much difference in depth and quality . In manufacturing some times the better technicians work the higher end line that being the 70.
Also what are the used market prices for thses 3 machines.
Thanks Scott

Scott, after using every CZ made, it is my opinion that all are equal in depth. It is true that some are slightly deeper as I am sure you have read about certain serial numbered 3d's and 70's. I have had both of these serial numbers and I could consistantly run that particular 70 at a sens of 6. Last but not least, four years ago or so, I bought a CZ6a from Dan and I had my last 100 silver year with that machine. As everyone knows, Dan sells a quality detector and it was a big mistake not keeping that CZ. Guess who bought it back when I foolishly sold it? Yep, Dan. It was my favorite CZ of all time and you are correct- they are getting almost impossible to find. R.L.

Since I am biased towards the analog CZ's ( have 2 6a's that will never be sold as well as a CZ20), I say hold out for a bit to see if a CZ5 or CZ3D comes up for sale. Not sure if any 6a's will be up for sale. I think guys who have them realize they are the best of the bunch overall since they are more air/water resistant, can take a pounding and all of them are on par with each other depth wise so there wasn't much if any variance between one and another one. The two I have, one being one I bought when they first came out, and another I bought used about 10 years later, are identical in depth and how they work.

The main reason I like the analogs is they are a bit quicker to respond, I like the meter system, and you can fine tune the sensitivity. Can't do that with the digital CZ's. The one thing the digital units have over the analogs is the notch feature, but that is something I never use.

If a CZ70 Pro comes up, that would be the digital CZ to get in my opinion. These units are just as easy to use as the analog CZ's, and they have a 4th tone compared to the CZ5 or 6a. The CZ3D has the 4th tone too, as well as an enhanced mode. I had one but sold it since I was mainly beach hunting at the time and did not have use for the enhanced mode, but it was a great unit. Wish I kept it. It was one of the ones built at the Los Banos plant, so if one of those come up for sale, it would be a good buy. Not saying the newer First Texas CZ3D's are bad, but in reading reports/opinions, it seems some are not as deep as others....but I never used a newer one to confirm that. I believe that those who had the newer CZ3D's and had issues with depth, were sent back to First Texas and made right so that is a good thing.

Since they still make/service the CZ3D, it would seem that they can also service a CZ5 or 6a since the components are similar. Not sure about servicing the digital versions.

That was probably the one I sold him deep deep deep.Just like the old saying you don't know what ya got till it's gone.
I'll probably go for the 70 like the water resistance.

If anyone hears of someting thta may fill the bill please pm me Haven't met the 24 post rule yet to post in classifieds.
Thanks Scott

Hey Scott,

I have been seeing quite a few CZ 7's on ebay and I even bought one a few months back. I haven't had much time to use it yet since it's -8 degrees here in AK but it air tests the same as my CZ 70. I took the 12AA holders and threw them out and converted it to 4 9v batteries and it works great. Keep an eye out on Ebay...I'm sure one will pop up soon.

Good Luck!
