CZ 6A HELP!!!!

diggindirt

New member
Hi all,

I just purchased a CZ 6A and don't think it's working correctly. I was testing in the house (basement has cement floor) and can't get the threshold to work in "auto tune" mode. I never owned a CZ so I'm not sure if this detector is working correctly. If I turn on the presets as listed in the manual, the machine seems to work in silent mode (disc) correctly but if I switch to "auto tune" it just works as in disc but with the single tone audio and no threshold??????? I tried everything and can't get a threshold working on it. The other thing is in disc (0 to 10) the meter rests all the way to the right on the coin mark. If I go over a pull tab it does go to that section and if I run over iron the meter does show it. Also, if I turn to auto tune the meter stays all the way to the left with no target motion and I think that's working correctly. I'm thinking I might need to get a refund on the detector with the threshold not sounding??? I almost blew my ears off turning the volume all the way up hoping to hear it somehow.

Please let me know if I'm doing something wrong with the settings or if this is normal.

Thanks!

Hi again,

OK, I moved the headphone plug around a bit and found a scratchy sound to it. It turns out the jack was pretty dirty and I sprayed contact cleaner in it. This helped and I now have the LOWEST ALMOST CAN'T HEAR IT THRESHOLD with the sensitivity set at 10. I would believe that the threshold would be very loud with the setting at 10. The manual states to start at 10 and lower until a comfort zone is found. So, I do think something is still wrong and can't decide if I need to send it back now or try to repair it (could send to Fisher but that might cost a bunch)!

Have you heard of this issue???

Thanks?

Now I realize the jack connector is loose! If I put slight pressure on the plug when in the jack, the sound either disappears or is barley there. However this is only in

Hi again,

I cleaned the phone jack connector one more time (contact cleaner) and it fixed the intermittent connection. The jack was just really dirty and now it's working real smooth!!!

Thanks for all the replies and PMs telling me not to worry and assuring me that the machine is working correctly!!!!!

I did some air tests and it's really quite sensitive too! I think I'm going to find some decent targets with this detector and can't wait to get out with it!

I WANT TO WISH EVERYONE A VERY HAPPY HEALTHY HOLIDAY AND NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!! :beers:

THE CZ-6 IS A SILENT SEARCH MACHINE LIKE CZ-5 CZ-20 AND I ASSUME CZ-21.FANTASTIC ON NICKELS. AFTER READING ALL THE POSTS ON THESE NEWER MACHINES,I BELIEVE THE CZ SERIES IS THE EASIEST MACHINE TO LEARN AND EXCELL WITH.ONLY DRAW BACK IS PENNY ,DIME,QUARTER,HALF,AND DOLLAR ALL READ ON DOLLAR SIGN. GOOD LUCK. BY THE WAY ,WHY WOULD YOU WANT A THRESHOLD SOUND ANYWAY?
