CZ 6A consistent

Haven't been metal detecting for a while going to get back into it narrowed down choices to CZ6a or Sov.
The 1st 6a I had was very deep did't know what I had sold it for a newer model cz70 that was average depth, got another 6a average depth .
I have also had sovereigns before and they seem to be more constent.
Is there any thing with serial numbers , older machines , newer machines on the CZ6a that may indicate a difference in the individual machine.
I'm a little torn between what machine to go for sov or cz6a.

Nope all are Los Banos made and some are hotter then others. Best bet is to get one Tuned by Tom D. or buy one and have him tune it. Then you know it is at it's peak performance wise.

Harold gives excellent advice or might try to buy one new locally with you trying before buying or getting an air test from honest and tested reliable owner of used one.
Certainly a hit and miss situation unless you have Tom tuned...

I haven't seen any new ones for some time unless one shifts to a CZ3D. I am skeptical of some of the units being advertised as Tom tuned actually having been done by the master. Know seller well or check serial number with Tom to validate. Best to get a good condition unit at a good price and send it in yourself. Tom is a super guy to deal with! IMHO based on experience!

Very good advice. In fact, I just checked with Tom on a recent 3d at auction, and he had NOT certified the unit in question.
Tom is a professional and a gentleman in every sense, and is very easy to deal with.

I had him do my 3d, and it works perfectly.

Just picked up a CZ6A in trade that was calibrated by Tom D. this machine is a monster in depth. with the fisher CZ's you love them or hate them. used a minelab, it's a great machine, just like the Fisher's better.

Pardon my ignorance, I am not doubting anyone, relatively new to CZ's. Where does Tom live, how did he come about his knowledge of CZ's and what machines does he tune.
I have a CZ 21, I like the machine, does Tom tune up CZ21's. If so what sort of increase in depth could I expect/

He did work for NASA and lived in florida,i have a book he did on Fishers..He is the man behind the cz3d and no i don't think the cz21 is something he would mess with and why would you want him to,as the mod is for old coins and with a metered machine..

NASA Tom has articles available on Fisher's web page and made some very helpful DVDs using CZs. His expertise on the physics of detecting is amazing. He has a very analytical mind and scrupulous methodology in interpreting decades of hunting and excavating historic sites and typical hunting. He is an excellent read for building technical knowledge and practical skills on detecting.
