CZ-5 won't ground balance in wet salt sand

Hello All,
I can't seem to get my CZ-5 to ground balance in the wet sand here in the Charleston, SC area. I've noticed a lot of faultsing in the wet sand as well; more than usual. I guess that is due to the failure to GB.

Should it ground balance in the salt. I used to have a CZ-20 and I believe it used to balance OK. Until a few weeks ago, I haven't metal detected in a while. I can't remember how well this unit balanced 3 years ago. I'm afraid something is wrong with it.

What do you CZ users think?

Thanks,
TheHawg

Salt water beaches change from day to day and even inland there are places where a CZ won't ground balance and I believe they advise one to put in the preset position..
Easy to check out if another CZ user is around to see if his ground balances. Do remember the CZ20 is locked in the salt mode so make sure your CZ5 is in salt mode when trying to ground balance..Some areas are so tough about the only thing that will work is a P.I. unit....depending upon what the tides bring in...and remember running your sens. low could help out the problem...
Before I would worry about your unit being faulty would surely try a club members or friends CZ to see if it will ground balance..

Dan in Pa is right,, I run into very salty patches on the beach,,, GB in med wet at high tide line and work to wet. also move down the beach and try........ plr

Dan makes some good points about the CZ5 ground balance. It is also advisable to check your coil cover for black sand as this can affect the GB.
