CZ-3D with 5"coil

Wanted to know what experiences everyone has had with the CZ and the small coil. Just put mine on and plan to use it in my sister's yard that is riddled with junk. Thanks for your help.

The small coil is awesome. It is fun to use and is deep. i have found lots of stuff at 8 or more inches while running the small coil. I sometimes have to force myself to put the big coil back on the CZ.
Let us know how it goes, but I am predicting a winner for you.

HH, Don

You can up the sensitivity with the small coil. Just go slower, overlap the sweeps and you will find some good stuff in between the trash.

I found 2 rings ( one silver, one gold) in a park loaded with nails and aluminum trash with the small coil going over the same area with bigger coils before. The silver ring hit hard high tone, the gold ring mid tone but on foil. I was only digging foil hits on the mid tones since most all of the pull tab hits ( both square and round ) were either that or the aluminum trash. Guess I got lucky on the gold ring. Thats what's cool about the CZ... you can cherry pick via the meter reading if you want too. Deep foil hits are always cool to investigate.

One good thing about the 3D ( which I just got and can't wait for this snow to melt to get out there with it) is that it has the 4 tones. I was using a CZ6a when I got the rings, and you have to meter watch a bit more since it only has 3 tones. You got that separate, mid/low tone for foil only and that's a good thing if you are park hunting and running into lots of tabs.

Let us know how you make out with the small coil.

The small coil can give you the big target audio signal on quarters that are about 1/2 an inch or less deep. So if you get the big target sound, raise the coil some to see what it is and size it.

The 5" is awesome for target separation. It also recovers quickly.
You will hunt faster in the heavy trash areas as you will be able to i.d. the targets with less confusion.
Masked targets, targets that were invisible/undetectable previously because of iron masking of the good targets will start popping up with the 5". Targets that are very close together clumped in with trash will also become easier to detect.
I use mine quite often when I'm at parks, fairgrounds, anywhere where there is heavy trash or dense nail infested areas.
It's really a necessity to have if you want to get into the rough stuff. I've found rings, jewelery, coins and other nice finds simply by slowing down just a bit and using the 5" coil in these areas. I know that these areas where hunted previously and some of them were really pounded. These sweet spots were too much trouble for the guys with the 8 and 10" coils but not for my 5" on my CZ3D.
The 5" coil will find targets deep. I've dug out stuff from 7 and 8 plus inches deep.

Cant wait till spring, Im gonna pop that 5" on my newly acquired 1021 and pound out the trashy areas!

I've found the 5" coil one of my favorites... Can swing it all day and as Grant said, you can up the sens and find deep targets with no problem... When I purchased the 5", my dealer bypassed the overload/large object bell tone response... Sure have found many nice items with this coil... It sounds off nicely on the 8" silver dime in my test bed...

I was waiting on someone else to post how deep the 5" coil was.I have no problem getting coin's 8 or 9" deep it is amazing HH, BILL-NC

i also get 8+ inches with the 5 in coil haven't used it much but I'm going to force myself to use it more!! i do remember that you can crank up the sens some with the 5in. i haven't had my cz3d long and i started useing the stock coil and just felt like it was doing fine at seperating coins trash etc. I'm so ready for the snow to melt so i can get back out!! i picked up a 1021 cz3d with stock and 5 inch coil in perfect shape at the end of last season i did great the dozen or more times out with it. it id's nickel's indianhead's perfect and i get 12 inches in the air tests i got it on fee bay without even testing it man did i get lucky. i think the only thing I'm not happy with is the spongy grip on the handle it's always moving around (sliding), and I've noticed I've bumped the sens a few times I've read that you can put a o-ring under the knob to help this but i haven't tryed this yet! well good luck to you all this season with the cz in our arsenal we all should have no problems finding the goodies can't wait to see all of yours and I'll post mine on here to!! i plan on being a Jedi ninja with my cz3d by the end of this coming season i will become one and learn it's language i'am on a mission!! lol

With a 10.5", 8", and a 5", and if my CZ could only have one coil I would say well make it the 5", That's right, it's my favorite.

Gosh its light and using it one learns the importance of overlapping while swinging..Do remember in most cases you can also raise sensitivty to have a deeper unit while keeping it stable and have dug solid 6 inch targets while using one, certainly a cinch to pinpoint with but be aware it may give the big item alert on a shallow larger coin. All in all a nice acc. coil that goes places where larger coils would not fit..
