CZ-3D quick question on that thresh tone...

Hello All,

I am the new owner of a CZ-3D. I have used many machines in the past and have 12 years experience. Looking forward to
a machine that offers sweet hi-tones on old coins.

My question is about the ground balance.
The manual indicates, and my past experience with other machines agrees, that when I go to manually (bob method) ground balance the machine, the thresh should be set to a slight "hum"......

My new machine however, has a thresh that is more of a chatter..broken....no power lines, no cell phones on.........

Yes, the ground is bad (mineralized Orange, Virginia soil) but I would not think that would effect the thresh when the machine is held waist high....I can hold it over my head and the thresh is still chattery.......Does this sound like a normal thresh for a 3d? Is it a chattery hum? Or is it supposed to be more of a smooth thresh hum?
Thank you!

Mine's just what you described, not a smooth threshold but a chattery hum. You just don't want a rise or a fall in the tone to get it balanced.
