cz-3d question

I know the newer cz-3ds don't get the depth that the classic Los Banos units usually had, but are the newer units less prone to iron falsing?

Hi, some of the newer 3D's get the same depth as some of the older Los Banos models.....Also some of the older Los Banos 3D's lack depth too.....As far as iron falsing goes it varies from machine to machine regardless of the year it was made....Some of them run very quite and stable with minimum fasling and some are real noisy, unstable with a lot of falsing....I have a Los Banos model that is not a depth demon but it runs real smooth and rarely do I hear it false on iron...I have only dug a couple of nails in the past, it's real easy to tell iron from a good desirable target.....If you get one have the person air test it for you....You should get at least 9" or 10" minimum for an air test....10" on up is closer to what you want but 12" would be great....Hope this helps you out..........JJ

I have had 1021's AKA Los Banos CZ-3D's and I now own a First Texas CZ-3D. My 1021's were a little hotter,But my First Texas CZ-3D is close after Tom tuned in. I will say the newer one seems to run a little smoother in iron. I also have an older digital CZ-7a that is the smoothest running CZ in iron trash I have ever owned. It is not quite as hot as my CZ-3D,But it can find coins in among nails better than the CZ-3D.

I totally agree with recent posters as it depends on the CZ in hand so old or new one may be a tad deeper and another may handle iron better. In other words certainly variances in either and seems whether you buy old or new just like a box of chocolates one never knows what you are going to get but in most cases variances are minor at best.

My 1021 was tuned by Tom and is a depth demon. I do have some iron falsing but it is usually pretty easy to figure out. For pure relaxation and a chance to still dig the good stuff nothing beats my CZ70. It is quiet until you need to pay attention. Still pretty deep and great to use when you are thinking about something else or daydreaming.
