CZ-3D needle bounce

HaroldILL.

Active member
I was wondering how many of you with CZ-3D's new or old notice that deep silver dimes at the very edge of detection depth the needle will bounce once or twice from high coin to zinc? Or does it lock on high coin or bounce once or twice to iron?

I guess I should have stated earlier it doesn't have to be in the ground it can be in a air test at the deepest point you get the coin. Like just beyond max depth in the Dankowski test before you lose the signal. The tone is good on mine at max depth 11-12'',But it will bounce once or twice to zinc. from high coin. Thanks.

Interesting question Harold.---Do you mean bounce from high coin to iron or bounce from high coin to zinc?---you said it both ways.----Don't know about the 3D but some detectors will bounce to iron on really deep coins.----Perhaps due to (strong) iron rust flakes in the ground.-----You said it did it in an air test to though didn't you----hmmmm.

I currently have a newer first texas CZ-3D that will bounce from high coin to zinc. at max depth on silver/clad dime. I had a 1021 los banos that would bounce high coin to iron at max depth on clad/silver dime. I was just wondering if all newer ones are like this and maybe some original ones? I just got it back from Tom Dankowski he calibrated it. The detector was doing it before I sent it to him,But a lot more. It just every so often does it know. I was just wondering if others have noticed this?

I did he said it could be the set point on the ground balance control. I was just wondering if others have noticed this on there detectors?

Bounce is common on my CZ3D with deep silver or very small silver at more shallow depths of say 8". If ya get a bounce between coin and zinc dig!

Indeed a lot depends on your mineralization and your ground balance setting so do practice the bobbing method in your neck of the woods.

Having said the above and using many detectors over the years targets on the fringe of detection range can cause many variations depending on your unit and usually a tone variation unit will bouce between tones as well....
