CZ 3d coil question

foreign object

New member
Have had my new CZ 3d for 8 days now and not sure if i am winning or it is. Time will tell.
Anyway now to my question on coils. Fisher sells a 10.5" coil that they call a spider coil that looks like the coil that came on my machine. Is that coil considered a concentric coil or is a spider coil altogethdr diffrent?

I have some questions about the operation of my CZ but wil ask those later.
Thanks

No problem. If you have any more questions just ask, someone on here will probably know the answer.........;o)

If you are new to that CZ, don't worry about any other coil at the moment. The stock 8 inch coil is a super coil, goes plenty deep and pin points dead on ( even without using the pin point button and just Xing the target).

Main thing is to make sure you ground balance correctly, don't run the sensitivity too high ( 2-3 range to start), and when running in discriminate mode, start out in 0. You want to hear ALL targets starting out, so you don't get fooled by deep iron falsing. After awhile, you will begin to hear the subtle differences between a good high tone target like a silver or copper coin, and a deep iron false high tone. The good high tones are more mellow and not as harsh/loud as a deep iron false high tone.

Sweep slow to moderate, keep the coil low to the ground, and dig all repeatable mid and high tones when sweeping at multiple angles ( attack the target from all different angles to make sure you got a good one). A lot of mid tones will be aluminum trash, foil, tabs, etc. but most gold rings fall into the mid tone category so if you are in an area that has the potential to have gold jewelry, gotta dig the mid tones.

Some fellows use the 10.5 concentric for more coverage and a little more depth but its a heavy coil and really makes your unit tip heavy and might have to hipmount.
Agree with the other posters as the 8 inch stock should serve you well and just goes about as deep as I want to dig...
