CZ-3D AND THE 10.5 COIL.

Well I picked up a used 10.5 coil to try out at the spot where I got the deep Indian and Barber dime. I hit this small area with the 8'' coil and my E-trac with the stock coil. I wasn't expecting much,But to my suprise I got two more Barber dimes 1899 and a 1907 and an 1882 Indian. All were 8-9'' deep. And on the way out got a deep hit a little over 9'' and to my suprise a worn 1856 seated dime! My first seated in 2 years. It is worn but still a seated none the less. I was shocked I missed these coins with the 8'' coil and the E-trac? I guess it is true what they say about the design of the 10.5 being better at coins on edge as these probally were as they were in the dirt pile so I couldn't tell. I have had other 10.5 coils,But for some reason or another let them go. I will be holding on to this one though.

Indeed the 10.5 seems to like coins on edge for some reason. Also remember you are getting more coverage which may contribute to a great day in the field. If you can handle the weight or hipmount certainly a new weapon to augment the stock 8 inch coil...
I knew one fellow that had one CZ and used the 5 and 10.5 and stock 8 in the same area on different days...Sure didn't leave much....

You're making me want to to dust my 10.5 off and try it again. Might make my setup too heavy for me though even with hip mounting. Dang shoulder. :(

I also have shoulder issue's and hate hip/chest mounting,But I can handle a couple hours at a time. I will bring along my E-trac with the Sunray X-8 coil. It is a light weight set-up and almost as deep as the stock pro coil and alot better in the trash. These are my 2 go to detectors and I have a XL-PRO White's that is just plain fun to use.

Nice haul! I'm itching to get another CZ3D. They have a sweet sound on coins....

I buried a measured 9 inch mercury dime in my yard about 11 or 12 years ago. I have several detectors.None would touch it.. Lately I picked up a 10 1/2 inch coil for my cz 5. The eight inch coil I had on it would not touch the dime. With the 10 1/2 inch coil, I knock the heck out of it. Even about 3 inches above the ground. That 10 1/2 inch CZ coil is really deep.......Jack

I think when it comes to pure raw depth on deep turf silver the CZ-3D with the 10.5 is king! And yes I had a couple FZ-12 coils and they are deep,But the extra size really limits the area's I can use it. I still think the 10.5 coil is better on coins on edge at depth.JMHO.
