Question 3, Depth reading on page 24

It says, place the search coil lightly on the ground at least 12

No taker on this one?? I tried outside in the yard doing the the 12" on the ground and in the air, my depth reading didn't change. So I am going say it doesn't like it makes any difference air or ground.

This one wasn't a big one anyway, but I got some real good info on the other 2 questions that really helped.

Thanks,

Ron in in WV

I feel what the are trying to say if you don't move the coil to the side and hit the pinpoint button the target will retune(get smaller) and if directly over the target it may detune completely and you won't be able to hear.As far as directly on the ground you want an accurate reading and even if you held it up an inch your readfing would not be accurate and off an inch. Detuning can be valuable on hard to pinpoint targets and moving the coil slightly to the side will shrink the target. Remember several inches to the side for detuning and it takes practice and if you hold directly over the target it may indeed completely tune out the target. Hope this further explains and feel the manual was written by a tech and should have been written by a detectorist as some parts of manual are confusing to the average guy. Again do practice the bobbing method in your back yard and all will fall into place and when you get in field a couple of bobs and you will be dead on..

Sorry, double posted somehow.

I appreciate all the questions and answers you fellas are giving on the CZ3D. Although I have a CZ-5 (new to me) I am thinking that some if not most of what has been said about the CZ3D pertains to the CZ-5 as well. I have only had the CZ-5 on a one time quick hunt (too busy on the farm) but am reading all I can so I will have some knowledge about which settings are best when I get a chance to go on another hunt. Keep them questions & answers coming. WV62 (Ron) I might give you a call to pick your brains & do alittle CZ talk when you get home from your vacation. Steve.
