Powerdetecting,
I to am with the others. I bought my CZ21 in June after a year of toying around with the idea. Initially I thought the same thing that you have described out of the box. Boy was I wrong!
Since my purchase I have logged 37.5 hours in the surf not just on the edge. About 65 total hours over all. Whether on dry sand, mixed or totally wet sand in the surf, I drag that coil with cover right on the surface of the sand. Ever inch counts in depth but I do lose speed. At my height I have the shaft fully extended. Being human often times I am banging and bouncing the coil in to the contour of the surface. The thought does come to mind that I wonder if this shaft will break. So far so good but I am careful
Now with time on the machine, I don't get the "flex" as you have described, I do like the fact that there is some flex to the shaft to act as a, well like a shock absorber. The currents move me and the shaft all over the place. Me moving one way while scanning and the shaft flexing another way. I describe the feeling like the difference between a stiff fiberglass fishing rod versus a custom composite rod that flexes just right to the movement of the fighting fish. I don't have to muscle the shaft, it just flexes and bends as the contour of the sand and current changes. It is really kind of neat, the feeling of the "flex" under water. Like a golf club in motion. I have been conditioned to the flex as you described and find it a good thing.
Since yours I gather is "out of the box" I would suggest keeping an open mind and let the machine and shaft experiences speak for themselves. If you don't like it, think about the other options then. Push comes to shove you can easily sell the unit on one of the many forum sites or Ebay. There are no shortages of buyers for this unit.
Best of luck, I have confidence that given some time with your CZ21, you too will come to enjoy the total technology and build of the shaft and machine. Everyday has been a new experience which I have come to look forward too.
