CZ-21.....HELP

Crusty

New member
I just purchased a CZ-21 with the 10" coil and it should be here today or tomorrow. I haven't been able to find much actual user information, reviews, or helpful tips anywhere online. I know it is very similar to the CZ-20 so I'm wondering if most of the information I can find on the CZ-20 also applies to the 21? What are the main differences?
.......And can anyone who has some swing time on the 21 suggest any tips or tricks to help flatten out the learning curve a little.

Thanks,
Dave

Dave,

I beleive everything in the 21 is the same as the 20 except the pin point button ( people who have had both, correct me if I am wrong). I don't think there is much, if any, difference in depth, sensitivity, etc.

What you read about the 20 I seem to think would apply to the 21. Ground balance procedure is the same, settings in terms of discrim levels are the same.

When you get it...use it ! It's that simple. I beleive you will be happy with it.

Dave, the CZ21 is the same as the CZ20 except for the Pinpoint button as was mentioned and the battery door or O ring. All the settings for the 20 will apply to the 21. It still has the saltwater mode on all the time. With the CZ20, many smear silicone sealant over the pinpoint button which I don't need to use anyway.

It is one tough detector that is built like a tank. I usually set the disc. on 1 so I don't hear the low tone for Iron, but some thin white gold rings can sound with the low tone, but so will tons of bobby pins. My CZ 20 or 21 still can not sound off on thin gold chains like the Tiger Shark. But if the chain has the right sized clasp or a medallion you are OK. I have one Excal that can find chains and the other one won't, so I guess you need to get lucky in which ever one you get.

Good Luck,
Sandman

Thanks guys for the replies. I went out water hunting for the first time yesterday with the CZ-21. Seems relatively straight forward as far as operation goes. I set volume to 7, discrimination to 1, sensitivity to 8 and of course GB the hunt. I found it sounds off pretty good on Canadian clad but no jewelry on this hunt. Now and then I would set the discrimination to 0 and dig a low tone. Most of the low tones would just pass through my sand scoop, except two bobby pins. I found it somewhat frustrating that some of the medium tones would also pass through my sand scoop......maybe gold or silver stud earrings.
With the 10" spider coil I found pinpointing took a little practice, even with the pinpoint button. Left to right it was right on but front to back I had to work at it to find the sweet spot. All in all I was happy with the unit and the weight seemed to melt away once in chest deep water.

The unit seems to be built very well.... except for the flex in the rod.....although after a while it's not really noticeable.

Crusty, the pinpointing is simple as heck. I don't even use the pinpoint button. What I do when I get a sound I more or less get in in the center and pull the coil back toward me so the sound dissappears. Then slowly slide the coil forward till I just hear the sound and the target is just off the tip. Try it with a coin on top of the sand and you will see what I mean.

Good Luck,
Sandman

pushed it a few times when I got it home and now it.s working again. Why do you smear silicone sealant over the pinpoint button. I haden,t been using mine but the last few hunts I was getting a lot of signals but couldn,t seem to get anything in my scoop It seemed like I was getting a lot of false signals. Most of the lakes I hunt have very little trash other than hair pins. I,ve only had my cz 20 for a while and just learned how to g balance it yesterday Normally if i get a signal it,s a coin or a ring Before yesterday I dug every signal but yesterday I spent most of my time trying to find the targets and ended up leaving a lot of them.I can use all the info you can give me thanks in advance. I think i,ll dig out my 1280 until I can master the cz 20.Frustrated in Nova Scotia lol

Thanks for all the advice.....I think I'm getting the hang of it. Just had a 7 ring day with 2 silver and a gold. The rest were junk rings. Man the unit sounds out strong on targets.:clapping:

Thanks,
Dave
