cz-20 pin pointing

Can anyone that owns a CZ-20 give me some tips on pinpointing in the water? I had problems with my unit and had to have it repaired. They had to replace much of it with CZ-21 parts. That is fine but I can not seem to pinpoint when I'm in the water. I can get a signal but trying to actually find the target is hit and miss for me. I've tried doing this in shallow water with different coins and even a ring and I do fine but when I get in deeper water and I can't see the bottom..... I am at a loss. Anyone?

Could be two things a faulty unit which I doubt or looking through the water cause strange effects which is nore likely the cause as it seems to pinpoint well otherwise. I would recommend Ray-Ban or shooters glasses which alleviate these effects to a degree to allow a closer pinpoint...Actually most ardent Fisherman use them as an aid...

After your done moving your coil to where the target should be, put your toe at the center of the coil and then your scoop at the tip of your toe.

Have a CZ 20 10" coil and never used the pinpoint button. I have become accustom to swinging over the target a few times and getting center, setting coil on bottom and - tricky in mucky waters but what I do is take my left foot and slowly move it forward to touch the back of the coil and then remove the coil and place the scoop at my toes to dig. Have to be a little careful in waves as they can slam the scoop into your leg. I always wear shoes or dive boots for protection.

I can relate to your agony as I have the very same problem. Try pinpointing in the surf...that's a hoot! But in all seriousness...the best method I have found is to get as close to where you think the item is and place your coil on the ground right over it. Then move one of your feet to where the big toe just touches the backend of the coil. Slide the coil out of the way and the target should be about 3" in front of your toe if you use an 8" coil and about 4.5 inches if you use the 10". That works pretty good for me.

But in the surf? Boy what a hoot...seems like the target swims away from it. Just me I guess. It takes a lot of practice.

Good Luck and HH.
