Recently read Digger (Randy) article on Coin Shooting with the X-Terra 70. What really caught my attention was the section on Sensitivity. He states that he likes to think of the Sensitivity, Threshold and Ground Balance working hand in hand. If you have the sensitivity set too high, you will not likely obtain the optimum GB setting. He went on to recommend setting the sensitivity at a single digit level, until after he set the GB. After achieving the proper GB, he turns the sensitivity up as high as he can, with out causing false signals.

I followed these directions and set my X-70. Only I was hunting civil war bullets and not coins. I then set my sensitivity to 25. I was using the 7.5 standard coil. The area I was hunting has been heavily hunted. I recovered to two two-ringers and four three ringers. All the bullets were at the 6" to 8" depth and a very Strong 32 on the meter.

Very nice finds! Congrats on the bullets, they look good. I would really like to do some relic hunting. Good hunt, Beale.

Very cool. I read that post and really want to try that, but the sideways snow kept me inside.

Tom, I hunt in only for Relic and the X-70 has proved Be deep-seeker in many area' s I hunt, and been hunted by many brands. I highly recommend the 10.5 DD 7.5 Freq. coil, if think The standard coil goes deep , try the 10.5DD you can go deeper, and run sen. setting hight in most soil!! I went back and recover very deep coins, relic that where just out of range of 9 inch Coil.

I think you are right on the money. I pm Digger and asked him, several days ago, which coil he recommended. Giving my location and the mineralization of the soil he recommended the 10.5 DD 7.5Freq. coil. When me wife ant looking I'm gonna order that mouther:starwars: Thanks TomB

Recon...I tried to order the 10.5 DD 7,5KHz coil yesterday. My dealer stated that the 7.5KHz DD coil only comes in 10". The bro-chewer sent by minlad also shows it in 10" and their web site only shows it in 10". How ever I checked several web sites and they offered it in 10.5". Very strange. I sent a email to Minelab but have not received a response. TomB:confused:

X-Terra 10' DD 7.5kHz Round Coil. The Double-D coil allows the detector to ground balance more accurately so is the ideal coil for detecting in mineralised areas such as the goldfields or beaches with black sand concentrates. It offers great depth on most coins and larger nuggets.

X-Terra 10' DD 18.75kHz Round Coil. The 18.75kHz coil increases the detector's sensitivity to small targets. Great for detecting in mineralised areas such as the goldfield or beaches with black sand concentrates.

X-Terra 10' x 5' DD 18.75kHz Elliptical. This coil provides good sensitivity due to its narrow width, as well as good ground coverage due to its length. The 18.75kHz coil increases the detector's sensitivity to small targets. Great for detecting jewellry, the highter frequency improves the detector's ability on fine gold chains, stud earrings, etc.

X-Terra 6' Concentric 7.5khz Round Coil. The narrow detection pattern of the 6" Concentric coil makes it the best coil for high trash density sites, in addition to offering excellent pinpointing. It is waterproof, lightweight and perfect for tight access areas including playgrounds and home sites.

X-Terra 6' DD 18.75kHz Round Coil. The high sensitivity of the 6" DD is perfect for locating small gold nuggets and jewellery. Its great ground handling abilities and size make it the ideal coil for high mineralization, heavy vegetation and rocky areas. Due to its waterproof design, this coil can also be used for beach wading, creeks and stream detecting.

X-Terra 9' Concentric 18.75kHz Round Coil. X-Terra 9" Concentric coils are preferred for coin and treasure hunting, as the concentrated search field provides accurate pinpointing and improved target identification. The 18.75kHz frequency of the 9" Concentric coil improves the detection of low conductive targets, such as, small coins and jewellery. The higher frequency of operation also improves audio stability over wet beach sand.

X-Terra 9' Concentric 3kHz Round coil. The 3kHz coil gives improved depth on highly conductive metals, such as, Silver and Copper coins, as well as other larger metal objects.
