CW Boot Heel Plates I Think?

Here is a picture of two different size boot heel plates I think are of civil war vintage. Both are brass maybe of union issue. All of the other plates like these I have found have hearts or clovers in the center with no cleats on the edges. Does anyone know if these are military issue or civilian? If anyone has found similar heal plates please respond. Thanks, Steve

Yes They are heel plates , Heel plates were used by soilders but were not military issue, So in my opinion they are all civillian.
I believe the type you have is late 1800s to early 1900s judging by what i have seen dug with them.

Here is a pic of one that you can see the ware on.
Also a link to a couple I found online...

Thanks Taz for the information. I have seen pictures of soldiers boots that had them but wasn't sure if they were military issue or not. Nice to know for sure!
