Cutlass and Cutlass II umax .....

Jay Evans

New member
Has anyone had good experiences with the Cutlass umax? What are the differences between the Cutlass umax & Cutlass II umax? Is it's descrimination as good as the Little Silver Sabre?

The Cutlass ll uMax is pretty much the silver uMax..10kHz
The Cutlass uMax does not have the toggle mode switch and operates at the 12kHz.
The other difference is the shafts..
I just got a Cutlass uMax today and will be testing it out later.

I'm considering getting one for my daughter to use..... This is one Tesoro I've never had the opportunity to spend time hunting with myself, and was wondering if anyone had any likes or dislikes about it.
If it's anything like My little SS I'm sure it'll be a good one for her. Thanks....

I have both, The Cutlass II, and a new Silver Umax. I put 8x9 web coils on both.
The Cutlass II is a screamer and has a different audio tone, loves deep dimes.
I like the toggle battery test on the Silver more than the long beep when turning on the Cutlass.
I like the Cutlass a little more than the Silver but like them both much more than the Vaquero I had and think they both perform better. My El Dorado is still my main weapon of choice.
Bottom line to me the Cutlass II is better than the new line-up and as a bonus less than half the money.
I would hunt side by side with that Cutlass or Silver against a new Vaquero or Cibola and let the finds speak for themselves.
This is my opinion and don't want to offend any owners of other detectors.

I have a Cutlass II Umax. I have yet to try it out. I am looking foward to that hunt for sure, Beale.
