I recently needed to waterproof one of my md's, so I choose an older one and got to work. I used a gallon zip-lock bag for the job. I used thick grease around the coil wire and double zip-striped it. I used the same grease on the bottom where the screws thread in. And to make it durable, I covered it in duct tape so the plastic won't rip. Tell me what ya think guys!

Are you putting it underwater? I was thinking the same thing late last night.....cept I was thinking of my 1265-x instead :) * would be a little tricky with the 1265-X but willing to give er a try sometime. Lot's of duct tape and plastic wrap----YEP

We Americans did the same thing again-spending Millions on trying to develop a Pen that would write in no gravity *upside down to us land lubbers*......the Russians SOLVED that problem (by using a pencil) Hahaha

Yes underwater. I just tested it in the shower and it didn't have a drop in it. I'll go to the beach soon and report my results.

the pencil would do fine but as far as the spacesuit goes ill take the engineered researched one!!!!!

The upside down writing pen is an urban legend and do some reading on the Russians and you'll find that they've lost more people in accidents than any of the other space programs (fledgling and otherwise).

If you submerge it, there is a good chance the pressure over time will cause water to enter......The deeper you go, the faster it will happen....

What ever gets the job done! Had a buddy in California that used a surplus military map case. Then he up graded to a "underwater" video camera bag he got for $2.99. Too bad he couldn't fit a camera in it too! snap a pic as you dig the goodie up!! Truly multi function.

Let us know how your setup works out.

Good idea, but I would carry it a bit farther...your putting an awful lot of trust in that grease...to make it better, cut the zip ties, reove the grease, then use black waterproof silicon gel inside the bottom of the bag and against the cord. then put heat shrink tubing stuffed with the silicon to seal it all....
