Custom V3i programs...anyone?

I just got my new V3i last week. I watched the video, read the book (as good as a once over can be), and had it out for a first full day of detecting.

I love how it is TOTALLY customizable and programmable! This is my first White's machine. I have used/owned pretty much every top machine from every major company EXCEPT White's until now. I waited tooo long! LOL.

Out of all the detectors I have used, and for my hunting style, my favorite is the Etrac, with a custom coins/jewelery program I made. I am hoping that someone has moved from the Etrac to the V3i, like I am doing, or has some decent experience sith the V3i and it's programs.

I know I need to do some more research, learning, etc on my V3i.... but I already know what I want... just need to know how to make it.

go ahead and laugh. If anyone has made, or can make it, I would appreaciate it SOO MUCH!

I am gonna try to put it best, as I can describe, with what I have learned about the V3i programming so far and what I like and has worked for me.

if you can do this...I will even pay you!... no kidding! I know it can be done on the V3i, somehow, and would love to have it!

I guess kind alike a beep-n-dig program but using all 3 signals. 4 tones (go ahead and laugh, but all I ever used on my Etrac). iron had a tone, 2 mids, and one for the silver/highs. moderate to fast recovery, VDI & depth on the main screen and the analize spectragraph on the back screen. I like the stock 'common' pinpointing (how they made it).

thanks!

Easy to do, go to pages 48 and 49 in your manual and read up on Search Audio. Each VDI can be assigned a tone or no tone at all so you can have one tone or four or up to 191 tones.

thanks! I actually was doing a little bit of reading that this morning since it's raining here in Pittsburgh, PA. Still might go out with the AT Pro tho. I took 3 days off work and have the detecting bug.

I actually tried a lot of the programs and found 5 things I liked from 5 different programs, so now I need to figure out how to combine them (one of which you helped on). I like the pinpointing/tones on one, the filtering/swing speed on another, the discrimination on another, the spectragraph % analyze on another, and the tones on another...

If I could combine them... oh yeah... with the Mixed Pro colors/screen (6 different things now?)... I'd be in heaven! With me, my detecting style, and where I hunt, it would be my ultimate coin/jewelery program ever!

Thanks!

Seems you are doing well buddy if you just play with the detector settings you are learning the way out also. There is the restore button setting there you can restore the preset programmes as well when just messed them enough and you want to get back. It s not beyond common sense. I hope that helped you.

Don't be afraid to take the V3i out in the rain, I have hunted in light rain many times with mine. Though not waterproof like the AT, the V is water resistant to a light rain anyway. The display pod has a rubber gasket between the two parts and the rest is sealed and the speaker is plastic.

IMHO, the reason that the V3i doesn't get the highest marks it should by many people is because they have never spent the time to learn what it can do. They use a fraction of it's options.

It's like buying a gaming lap top and then only using it to surf the web. Yes it works fine but what a waste. Maybe buying a Corvette to get groceries?:lmfao:
