This is an illustration of the discrimination patter I am working with in conjunction with the others posted.

Do you need the whole top part of the screen open??
How about just opening the FE coin. Will you still be able to see the rigth, left jump?

There is no need to have the entire top open. I am trying that since it will be the most conductive targets of the black area set to be accepted. If FE coins is open and silver and copper then indian heads are seen at both. There is no need to have the entire left area extend down past FE coins. I am seeing if that gives a cleaner threshold sound and if not will close that up to the FE coins area.

A pattern that works, why chance it... By the way in that area you have blocked out on the bottom left I have made some mighty fine pewter button finds, a couple that could pay for 2 explorers each, and I have found a couple small gold rings in that area, nickel 3 cents etc... listen and discriminate with your ears.. good targets sound good... bad ones generally sound bad...

If a target is going to hit cleanly enough to get through a pattern a MAJORITY of the sweeps over it, it will generally sound good with having no discrimination besides your ears and brains.

I try to understand that users have a lot of different preferences. It really does not matter to me which are used but find value in all the functions and settings that Minelab designed into the Explorer. However, for now I am using both IM-15 or-16 and patterns on the Smart Screen because it is fun and interesting to discuss.

Yes and that is the problem with any discrimination in that something is going to be missed. Again, that is up to the user as to how much if any discrimination to use.
