Curious - pull-tabs, can slaw, etc vs. good finds

Another question - When some of the heavy hitters here post pics finding several or more great coins from a old heavy hit park that also has alot of current use, do you also dig alot of pull tabs, can slaw, and etc ?
The old parks I hit that have alot of new activity, I find that I get a huge amount of pull tabs, can slaw, clad, and etc, compared to the number of good finds - is this what the heavy hitters get too, or am I just not good enough to discriminate the difference between junk and the good stuff?
Thanks in advance,
Neil - in Iowa

If your looking for Gold Rings in a Park, then yes, your going to dig a lot of Pull Tabs and other Misc. Junk, that's for sure. Us Coin Hunters, we all dig Aluminum Screw Caps, Can Slaw, Copper Wire, Brass Fittings, you name it, when we are out doing our search so it is common to dig a ton of Junk. This is how some of the Coins are found also, when Junk is next to them or with them so your doing it right. All it takes is time in using the detector and getting to know what Signals to listen for to truly understand what the detector is telling you. It will click in your mind after awhile as to what some of the Targets in the ground are thus giving you the choice in either recovering the Target or passing it up because you have a really good idea what it is just by Sound and ID. When I go out, I dig at least 50 Junk Items if not more. It just depends on the site and Junk to Keepers Ratio. Hope this helps. Good Luck and HH.

I think it would all depend on what your are looking for. If you were after silver coins for example you could try and only dig those signals that showed up in the top right hand corner of the screen and ignore the ones that show up from the middle down. If you wanted gold rings you would probably have to dig a lot of lower conductivity signals which would include a lot of trash too. If you wanted to find coins new and old you could concentrate on targets that hit near the top part of the screen and then watch the lower conductivity hits for targets that seem like nickel signals. You will dig some trash no matter which way you do it. If you are familiar where most targets show up on the screen that will help you decide to dig or not......

when i"m having a good day i"m running at a 3 to 1 ratio 3 junk to 1 good target when i"m having a bad day it"s 100% junk
