Curious as to why no Troy Shadow detector forum ?

I'm sure any questions on ANY lobo detector will be answered on a Tesoro or Fisher forum. I know he had Troys of each company.

The Troy X2 was a variant of one of the older Tesoros, I don't remember which one, but not the Lobo.

The Troy X3/5 was an entirely independent design done by people working for Troy, then manufactured by Fisher. Since it bears no relation to Fisher products, folks on the Fisher forums won't know anything about it other than if they happen to also have owned a Troy.

There's probably not enough folks interested in the Troy to support a Troy forum, but in the end only the Guv'ner can decide that.

Sorry, I was referring to it as a lobo (loner) detector.

It most likely is because their no longer being made. The interest rate would not mandate a forum for that particular defunct company.

There has always been mention in posts along the way in the Tesoro forum. .. Also you could post in the vintage detector forum..

thanks guy for the reply's . I knew Tesoro made the x2 for troy and it was based on the Silver sabre platform even has that board. I have owned and still own one and also just got a mint x5 from a fellow on here which I have never owned . I know many say they have a cult following and I guess I am one of those people. I have found many silver coins with my X2 and hope to as well with the X5 even though most say it is a relic machine . I have used one from a friend before and found many wheat cents and a few silvers, and yes I do know they like iron, but with a little tweaking they blow past those iron signals with a grunt to punch down . Anyway thanks again for the reply's and I guess I will just have to start a FB group on them so if anyone interested come join if ya own one

I certainly have enjoyed my X2 thru the years (B model) and I will never part with it. Some years back I was thinking about having a manual ground balance pot installed but never did cause the ground minerals don't change that much for me here. I have my threshold, ground balance and coin-check trim-pots adjusted to the Troy Super 7" coil which I keep on the X2 all the time so I don't have to readjust settings. The X2 for me is still a pleasure to use and I can hunt with confidence even though the technology is 20 years old. Good luck with that X5...Fisher's have a reputation for punching down!

Just picked up a B model X2 myself. What a sweetheart of a detector! Coupled with the super thin Super 9 Coil it feels weightless.
Anyway my first thought was to add a GB knob to it but I'm afraid it will kill the valueless the X2.
What do you think?
Thanks,
Bryan

Troy's are fine quality units and it is a pity there is not a modern evolved version in production. The X3 I had was a killer machine for planted hunts and casual hunting. X5 could hit deep and has accounted for many relics and coins. I think they have been out of production too long and too few units produced to merit a forum of their own.

Hey BarryL the question has been raised before why no Troy forum , yes it has its followers who like any detector has its lovers and haters of them. The X2 was made by Tesoro and FYI Tesoro will service them and use Tesoro coils. The X2 is a great coin getter and loves its gold also tweak it to just to hear nickels and that's the best setting. The X3 and 5 was made by Fisher I have had pleasure of using X2 and 3 but never a X5 sigh. What ever you do hold on to your shadows and enjoy.

Yes I know this and think I will be holding onto them for a while I have more fun with the X2 than any other detector . They may not be built any longer but one things for sure they were built to last

Agree that they have not been made in awhile so it would have few participants and its best to just use Tesoro or Fisher forms for the x5.
