Curious about the Infinium

Sailorman

New member
OK, I'm brand new to the whole MD hobby but I'm learning fast. Currently running an AT-Pro and happy with it. But, I find I'm developing a taste for relic hunting on land as well as some doors starting to open for river hunting and old farm property. The kicker is I live on a boat, anything I buy has a chance of getting wet one day even if I use it on land primarily. Also living on a boat there is a good chance my detector is going to see some diving. Can't see buying a higher dollar machine that get's trashed because of a hatch leak or a wet ride in a dingy.

Sooooo, I'm curious about the Infinium. I understand a bit about the differences between the VLF I'm learning now and the PI system but will this make a good land use coin and relic machine? I understand I'll be digging more, no problem there, but will it hit deeper then a unit like the AT-Pro? I'm also betting it might make a better river hunter?

At the moment I'm happy with what I have but being the person I am I also know that six months from now I'll be looking to add another machine to expand my horizons. I may also be moving into the south pacific area in a few years if a certain opportunity finally opens and then it will be salt water hunting for sure and it would be nice to have something I know well to use. I trust the AT-Pro for an occasional dunking but the next one needs to be capable of deeper water work. I'll probably keep the AT-Pro as well though.

Appreciate any info you folks can share.

Infinium LS is best suited for use when ground balancing is required and a must.

For lake, river hunting and salt water beach hunting + diving where ground balancing is Not required it would not be my first choice.

The Infinium excells at Relic hunting in hot soil.

Thanks for the replies. One of the reasons I'm interested is I may be working in the South Pacific in a few years if the funding comes together for a project I'm involved in. So a combination water/diving machine and the ability to work in volcanic soils could be a big thing for me.
