Curb Strips

How do you all do curb strips? For example, in the middle of small town America, when there is a curb strip then sidewalk, then a few feet away a home do you ask permission at the home? I see people all the time talking about curb strips and I'm a little confused on how you go about getting permission.

Even though that strip is city property, the homeowner normally has to maintain it. They may think it is their proprty as a result. I have found some folks don't care if you hunt the strip, others can get upset. So it is your best judgement to ask permission or not.

I don't hunt curb strips in front of occupied homes unless I ask permission because, to me, it's rude and disrespectful. There are plenty of empty lots, school property, public spaces, etc.

You're in luck. It just so happens that I ..... yes I .... own all the curb strips in the entire United States. As such, I grant you permission to walk there. And even detect there! (lucky you). No, don't thank me. It's the least I can do for the furtherance of our fine hobby.

Oh, and be sure to go at low traffic times when lookie-lous are less likely to gripe.

Thanks for the permission, Tom.

Now that I'm off to such a good start with getting permission, I think I'll head over to a few city halls and see if I can keep the ball rolling...

Thanks Tom. Man my back has been bothering me so I'm doing research only. Now that I've got the go ahead from you though I can just sit on a scate board with the detector pointed over the grass strip and gently roll down the sidewalks.
