CTX3030 using Minelab Harness ????

St Bernard

New member
Is anybody using the Minelab Harness with this detector to help with weight distribution swinging it . Feedback appreciated
Thank you Bill

I have used it beach detecting because my drive to the nearby beaches are from 1 and a half to 2 hours and once there I swing for about 6 hours straight.
It does make it a lot less strenuous but it really scratched up the side of my CTX. The side of the detector rubbed against the support rod.
But that's just me and the way I swing I guess. If i use it again I will wrap it up.

One other thing, I never use it other than for beach hunting.
I mainly hunt farm fields, and in my opinion it doesn't do well in that situation. There is always some type of stubble to swing over so it just isn't much good there. What I do to help with the weight is to shorten the shaft. I also catch my pinky underneath the handle for support.

I use mine all the time. Beach or dirt. I have my bag attached and my shovel , so it’s like a pack frame. I got rid of the rod because it was ineffective. I like it and wouldn’t last long without it

I tried a couple of cheaper alternatives and finally bought a pro-swing. Well made and works well once you get it all adjusted properly.

I used the pro swing while in England for 10 days. I was using the 17-inch coil and it made the detector practically weightless. I don't use it while at home though.

Yes,it works great. Spend 15-20 minutes at home to really get it adjusted and dialed in to your specific body type, that’s why it has all the adjusting points and adjustable rod. I got it set up then put a drop of superglue on the threads of the rod, otherwise it likes to adjust itself! Where you have to constantly pick the coil up to go over and around things or on the side of a hill it’s a bit clumsy but flat areas and beaches...great. IMO...

I made my own modeled after the ML harness and use it anytime I swing the 17". Like GKMan said, it makes it feel weightless. Before this harness I had tried most everything out there and they all wanted to disrupt my swing or twist the CTX in my hand. If you can, try them all before you buy.
