CTX3030 target Id"s

G Day all

Been lurking here for a little time now getting used to the 3030 before I was going to make my 1st post

As there already people here that know there 3030 quite well ,I thought I'd ask the question

What target Id's are you mainly aiming for and how open have you set your screen for beach and saltwater ?

Here in Australia some of our target are somewhat different you yours in the US , so target screws may be set up different
Below is what I tend to use on the beach , I have taken out the rubbish like alloy foil , lead , copper

When I'm in the water our beaches down here tend to be a lot rougher compared to the US and finding targets in the surf with waves is a little harder than on the sand
I finally went out and bought a decent scoop the other day and just need to find a handle to suit

Are any of you prepared to show what screens your running or is it all a big secrete over there?

Some target I'd numbers would be good as well

Here are some Australian target numbers

10cent 12.14
20cent 12.23
50cent 12.27/28
$1 & $2 - 12.37/38

24k chain/gold coin 12.29
18k gold ring 12.11
14k gold ring 12.37

Silver targets 1.46 , 12.46 , 13.46

$hit targets
round ring pulls 12.21/22
square ring pulls 12.15 , 12.16 , 12.17 , 12.22
small lead sinker 11.28
large lead sinker 12.36/37

Anyone know what the target id is for Platinum

As not to dig every target you come across have you blanked out part of your screen as I did , or do you purely go by numbers

Would be good to compare someone else's notes to mine

Cheers Marty

Maybe things are different and the Ausie beach detectorist enjoy digging more high denomination coins?

Most gold rings actually come in as foil, although they are the smaller ones, many do have diamonds. CO 03 might be an ok cut off, but platinum does come in lower.

24k chain/gold coin 12.29

maybe the pendant on a gold chain or a large clasp, but even a giagantic Mr. T chain would not come in that high. Small chains are only detectable if you rub them really hard against the coil, in all metal mode, lol!

18k gold ring 12.11

Small tiffany cut

14k gold ring 12.37

Large mens class ring

True that the items ring up as you say, but the numbers above are probably about half of the gold you are going to find by volume.

Lower than gold. If a particular ladies ring comes in 12-8 then a platnium version would come up like 12-05 to 12-02.

There are some TID charts for coins and rings, as well as Pattern setups, over in the CTX 3030 Resource Center. Just click on the CTX 3030 Resource Center banner near the top of the main CTX 3030 page. Or follow this link

[size=large]As stated above you seem to be cutting out quite alot of your gold targets. from what i've read over the last three years on this site, you are going to have to dig alot of trash to find the gold. they is the same vdi numbers. we don't have secrets over here. we tell NSA and they tell Snowden and he tells everyone else.

Reading the TID's and the size of some rings found , looks like I'll have to dig every target from now on no big deal when you think about it
Heading out again on Thursday , lets see if I can snag one

Cheers Marty

When searching for gold it comes down to digging it all. I went ahead and purchased a Tesoro Compadre so I could save wear and tear on the CTX 3030. Its hard to justify buying a $2500 machine to dig trash all day. HH

To find gold you basically have to make a game of it dig as much foil through zinc as you can. Try to dig trash on purpose, having a CTX or Etrac actually makes it harder to do because they are so accurate at finding coins, that becomes all you want to do. But you have to try to dig as much trash as purpose. If you want to play the odds you can start by eliminating large targets by raising the coil off the ground, if it still detects it is too large to be jewelry. You can skip objects that are not smooth sounding, or asymmetrical when vdi from 90 degrees, or only dig foil through nickle, and 12-20 through 12-35, but you will be missing some gold! Does it save time and allow you to find more gold overall making up for the losses with efficiency? Who knows? Whites detectors have visual meters for determining symmetry and smoothness, which probably do eliminate a lot of trash, but you are still diggin hundreds of trash items per ring, and missing gold if you don't dig it all.

4 years after you wrote this post people are still using it, and appreciating it! Thanks so much for your time and help!

Go to the relic mode. That's my screen for the beach.
