CTX3030 screen protector question

Hi everyone

I have a new CTX3030 on the way and can't wait to get going with it ! I have a question about protecting the screen. I am coming from an Etrac that has the Zagg protector on the screen and it covers the entire front of the contol box(buttons). I have seen people making custom screen protectors out of similar material for the 3030 as Zagg does not make one for the 3030 yet, but they are only covering the screen and not the buttons too. Probably not a big issue with the buttons other than keeping dirt off etc...

So what I am wondering is.... What happens when you are in the water with the 3030 ? Any screen protector will likely fall off....correct ?

What are you guys using as I plan to hunt both land and water ?

Thanks for any input

Bill

I've got a walmart generic and it stays put in the water. I'm more worried about how to get it to come off when I want to replace it.

Thanks for the replies. Like I said, I have the Z$@gg Etrac version and so far it has held up real well. My concern was if it would come off in the water, but I will give it a try. Thanks

The Z screen cover will definitely not come off in the water. I cover the entire front panel of my detector with one I cut to size and it works fantastically. The material is amazing and holds up under any conditions I have put it through....

GKMan,

You cover the whole front panel ? I'm surprised it adheres to anything but glass/plastic ? Aren't the buttons on the 3030 raised slightly or are they flush ?

Oh yeah.. I have had it on since day one years ago.. Well, i replaced it once I believe... No problem over the buttons at all.

GKman, still wondering about how the Z protector adhered to the button area ? Aren't they designed to be applied to the spray on a glass like surface ? Also, isn't the actual screen recessed from the rest of the panel ? Did you cut 2 separate pices or is it all one ?

Thanks

I cut one for the screen and one for the buttons covers buttons great no problemo .

here's the plan cover that rectangular area where the buttons are with z^gg then get this looks rather kool I am having some for sure and cover the rest with this http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/401133101228

my screen is done but I want that die cut carbon fibre one very kool.

quick save the listing they will pull this I am sure.

not my listing so I don't care.

It adheres just fine to the button area and hasn't peeled up at all. When you need to remove it, it will come off just fine. The screen is recessed a bit. You will notice a small air pocket in that area around the edge. It is only one piece. I can not imagine anything being better than this product...

Here look at this thread of mine that has a picture of my display...
