CTX3030 GPS Accuracy

I recently tested the accuracy of the GPS on my CTX.
I walked along a path in a park near my house and then looked at the plot on the exchange program.
I was within 3 feet at the farthest and about 95% of the time I was dead on.
I want to repeat the test with the GPS option set to enhanced to see if I notice an improvement.
I was impressed.
There were not any trees that could have obscured the line of sight to the satellites.

I have also found that my CTX3030 GPS is very accurate. I have however seen track inaccuracies in my buddy's CTX. It seemed to be mostly in longitude. The only thing I can think of causing the issue is not having "Enhanced" selected which utilizes WAAS for improved accuracy. Here's a map of WAAS coverage. It appears that everybody in North America should have Enhanced selected for increased GPS accuracy.

wow I can't believe you're getting that kind of accuracy with out waas enabled...a month or so ago we had a super thread about this whole subject

When I enabled the WAAS I can't say I saw any difference in the accuracy.
It is still very good!! I can't say it improved.
I haven't been able to figure out whether it could make a difference where I live.
The map shows that I'm within the coverage area, but I'm not convinced it helps????

The problem with consumer level GPS receivers is that they can be "perfect" on day and 10 feet off the next. As long as you aren't expecting perfection, they are great for putting you within a few feet of a point.

When I got my CTX almost 2 years ago, i wanted to see how close the GPS accuracy was. I got confirmed GPS COORDS FOR A USGS survey marker and put them in my CTX. They took me to 6 feet or so of the benchmark . I felt that accuracy was close enough for me. I use the feature to "mark" all of our keeper FPs that my hunting buddy and I find. We hunt farm fields where fair grounds, homes, etc used to be. One area has had all the trees removed recenty, changing the way things looked. With the use of the FPs and Geo Hunt info, it made getting back to the correct location very easy.
