CTX3030 goes ballistic at some sites. Auto+3 very low

I hunted 2 sites where my CTX got very finicky. The thing went berserk! Noise cancel did nothing. I tried manually setting the noise cancel on every channel and that didn't help. I tried switching from combined program to an etrac style 50 conductive with lots of discrimination and it still went nuts showing 01-50 and 02-50 super fast. I checked all connections and pulled the battery and it didn't help. Auto+3 was at 10-13 which is ultra low... When I went to another park the detector was just fine, worked like a champ. I went back to the problem site after and it started right back up again. I'm really glad I kept my etrac because this spot has some really great relic finds and I'd like to continue to hunt it.

I've used my etrac here with no problem no falsing, so I don't understand why the CTX isn't working well here.

there's a few sights I notice the CTX has much lower auto+3 level than my etrac does. It's pretty annoying at times to get the deep thunk sound on a 4 inch dime because the detector pulls back the sensitivity a lot.

You could have a bad unit, have you talked to your dealer? Have you tried manual Sensitivity to gain stability?

It works wonderful most of the time, just at certain sites it goes crazy unstable. Manual is worse for instability

I was using mine tonite right after dark and all of a sudden it went nuts-got very unstable. And I have used my CTX in the spot before around 4 times. I just walked a few feet an in a few seconds it settled back. Could have been a pilot talking on a radio from A/C overhead. Come to think of it my neighbor around the corner may have a ham radio. EMI can get sneaky.
