CTX3030 durability in freezing weather

With snow flying in parts of the New England already, I've retired my CTX for the winter in fear that pretty little color screen won't like the freezing weather. The Etrac is back as my primary winter detector. I woods hunt all winter if there is not too much snow cover. I've detected in weather around 10F weather all day with the Etrac and its just fine.

Think the CTX will hold up to temperature extremes or should I continue to leave it at home. I hate to see it just sitting in the corner.
I think I'll wait until some of the brave guys bring out their CTX is freezing weather and see how it holds up before I do the same.

I'll let you know! I don't plan on putting away any time soon. Just another quick note-I blocked out the 50 square on my machine after getting numerous 1-50 hits. Anyway I was hunting the woods with a friend(he had my etrac) and he gets a 12-47(but bouncing up to 50) in an area I gridded for at least 6 hours. I know I hit this area!! I run my coil over the area(before dig) and could not get anything better than a 18-50 signal. He dug a rosie. There was some iron, but not in hole. I think having that 50 blocked is reason I didn't get that coin.

As far as rugged-ness goes I think the Etrac has it. Last week I was on a hill in the woods with rock out croppings and while diggin my Etrac tumbled down and hit every rock on the roll down the hill. Really bent the stand, an scratched up the upper shaft, but no damage otherwise and the detector works just fine! I'm not sure my CTX would far as we'll.

I live in MA and know my hunting days are short lived until the spring. How much detecting are you doing in the snow/frozen ground. Thanks

I'll go every Saturday and Sunday all winter long given there isn't a lot of snow fall. The woods never really freeze and I have a Sampson shovel anyway.

Take it out and give it a go color screen should work as well as the black and white screen on the trac. It is under warranty better to find out now than later.

The CTX and the E-TRAC have 1750 different TID segments (35 FE X 50 CO). When you block out one of them, (as you say you did with FE 01 / CO 50) it has no effect on the other 1749 segments. Therefore, that dime would have had to hit consistently with a TID of 01/50, to be rejected. If none of the other segments were rejected, the 18/50 you had should have made a tone as it is a different TID than 01/50. Unfortunately, you didn't dig it. But IMO, it wasn't because of blocking out 01/50. JMHO HH Randy
