CTX water proof headphones

I use the Grey Ghost amphibians for the CTX and they are better than the stock Excal phones, but you have to bump up the volume at the detector when you use the GGs as they don't have headphone volume controls.

But I like the KOSS-30s that came with my CTX (even tho I have had to replace the plug twice) and everyone else seems to poo-poo on them, so what do I know.

bit confused about the Grey Ghost amphibians are these the ones with the floating Piezo's with a volume control like for the AT pro & ATX or are they the ones sitting in epoxy with no volume control ?

I want the ones that are louder like the ATX ones do they make them with the CTX plug or do I need to buy the ATX ones and fit a CTX plug?

AJ

They have a CTX specific plug and have no volume control on them.

thanks, strange they make good waterproofs for the garrets and ctx gets stuck with the old ones and not much volume, been a $%^& fight with the ctx and headphones from day dot

very frustrating !!

guess I have 2 choices make my own or buy the ones for the garrets and change the plug http://www.kellycodetectors.com/products/underwater-headphones/1219-3900a/gray-ghost-amphibian-uw-headphones

these are heaps better than the ctx ones guess there is not a big market for water proofs for the ctx and they have to get rid of old stock also tells me something about the ctx and peoples faith in it in the water, if it wasn't so good on the dirt for old silver it would have been gone a long time ago :bouncy:

but thanks for your help hey much appreciated I just heard people saying ctx Grey Ghost amphibians but they don't exist they are ctx underwater http://www.kellycodetectors.com/products/underwater-headphones/1219-3800/ctx-3030-underwater-headphones-by-detectorpro

just got my hopes up again

AJ

Detector Pro has the Underwater headphones for the CTX listed on their web site. No volume control is shown or listed.

They work fine and I like them, but you just have to adjust the volume on the CTX control panel. Sound is great once you adjust to suit yourself. No biggie.
I bought mine from BBH(excellent transaction btw). I'd post a link but not sure if that would get me in trouble.

Bart is one of the Forum Sponsors so you should not get in too much trouble.

Sure we are allowed to post links to site sponsors websites

this is the write up on the http://www.detectorpro.com/grayghost-amphibian.htm

Well all right then: http://www.bigboyshobbies.net/gray-ghost-underwater-minelab-ctx-3030-headphones

see the spec's for the ctx ones don't have the "sound box" watched a video and the sound box ones are 1/3 again louder than the ctx ones and have a volume control and are cheaper, so my question is why not use the new tech on the ctx ph's ??

I want the best available not 2nd best that costs more

not having a go at anyone just stating the facts  and what I want so guess I will buy the ones for the garrets and put a m12 plug on the end and still the ctx is a drama queen :poke: regarding headphones :ranting:

rather frustrating to say the least !

AJ

aj, I agree 100% that you should get EXACTLY what is best for you.
As I said, I am no audiophile and think all the decent headphones that I have listened to are good enough. Good Luck!

Old beach nut makes the skullies which I use.

ok they are not submersible but can cope with the waves and spray and the odd dunking.

MUCH MUCH louder and better than the koss ones.

Thanks Robin but I'm playing Pirate for the summer...I think, no gold from the Ocean yet...

Are we talking two different phones here........ the GGU vs the GGA? I thought the GGA had the volume control....... at least mine does. Im assuming ML might have a contract with Gary Storm for the GGU and not the newer GGA ..... which by the way have much better volume. Thanks to Joe i got some of the first GGA to play with and mines a dang good pair once we got um all sealed correctly.

Dew

yes what you said Dew I want the volume of the GGA , so basicly want a pair of GGA with a ctx plug and they don't make them, so not impressed and what are my options? buy GGA and put a ctx plug on, that's the only thing I can come up with. bit sad about the ctx headphone water proof options, so if anyone has a better idea that buy GGA and change the plug I am all ears :bouncy:

AJ

I have seen some GGA with the ctx3030 for sale on ebay last month.
Or wait until after summer when maybe Joe can look at that.
