ctx was falsing today in the water

ran it the same as last time auto sens deep off and i couldnt get the machine to run smooth . i going to try max s settings 4 tones. anyways i was chest deep today and really couldnt dig targets as the waves where still crashing and had a good undertow trying to steal my scoop. i went to the wet sand and it ran smooth, maybe the currents and waves confused the machine out deep today , actually the beach had 2 red flags which meant no swimming. gonna hold on to my excal until i can run this machine smooth in the water.

targets where few in the wet sand , a couple of bucks in clad and one of those presidental dollars. the dollar read 12-50 on the screen. also a junk earring and a silver ring. i did dig a quarter that had to be 20 inches plus. i would have bet anybody it was a can but i dug it anyways as targets where scarce and im amazed at how deep this machine hits and locks on.

ran into chris with his excal doing the wet sand as to rough in the drink. he had no tickets and about a buck in clad. he tryed the ct in the water just to see how it ran in the drink and he heard all the falsing. i need to start playing with the settings, my plan was to run it with preset modes for a month , but need a way to make it more stable in the water.

chris the wiseass thanked me . i asked why? he said for replacing your duelfield lol. nothing is going to replace my duelfield for chestdeep to neckdeep water and i like the ctx on the wet sand . jury is still out for me whether this will replace my excal hh jim

With the CTX hitting quarters at 20 inches, it sounds like you might have plenty of room to play with manual sensitivity and see if that helps with stability. I'm assuming you were in Auto.

I found that the machine falses in the surf line just like the GT does. You know a wave is coming before the water comes pass. I did some testing today and was very surprized that there was little differance between sensitivity levels. When i got the target I changed from 20 to 24 5 6 and then did it down to 12 then dug the target. The only things I really noticed was the target ID was much better at lower settings anything over 20 the numbers jumped around. The sound was so much better and cleaner. There was never a loss in detection at lower numbers. I did dig some coins at 15 inches today. I am guessing this machine is going to be alot like the others. Its very powerfull and more isn't always better. I found that on th Excalibur that I would dig more targets with less power. I ran at 20 during the day!

it worked good in the salt damp zone and submerged, but in the wash......i did / do not call it falsing now.............mineral noise i call it - it hits targets ok, but just lots of odds and ends noises

i do not like it and that is our best zone most of the time.............testing wed

Have either of you tried the combined mode with 5 tones? I know GraveDiggerMax stated in one of his excellent videos that the four tone mode was much better than the 50 tone when in the wash. Just curious if the combined mode is more or less effective in the wash.

Also, thank you GravedDiggerMax for sharing your videos, they are excellent. I appreciate your efforts and results.

Sounds like you need to have your GT checked out. Probably a bad coil. Do you hunt with the coil cover on. If so try taking it off. I have been using my GT in the surf in NJ for years with no falsing. The GT works great in the surf in Va Beach too.
