OK
THE ISSUE WITH THE SALT AND SCREWS FROM WHAT MINELAB SAYS IS JUST ASTHICS.
HOUSING IS ALL PLASTIC AND SCREWS ARE ALL TREATED S/S.
IT DOES APPEAR THAT THE CTX3030 WILL NEED A BIT MORE CARE AND TIME TO CLEAN THAN JUST A SPRAY OFF WITH A HOSE.
STAND BY FOR MORE IN THE COMING WEEKS.
HERE IS SHORT VIDEO AND SOME PICS AND A COPY OF EMAIL FROM MINELAB. FYI
.
These screws are stainless steel (marine grade), and for aesthetics they are made black by a passivation process. The discolouration in the photos is a standard reaction, it is not corrosion of the base steel itself. Any white residue can be wiped off. Over time, the natural stainless may show through. Hope that helps clarify.
