Think of it as a five tone option and you can set it up just about any way that you want Mick. This is how I have mine set.

I have iron set at 75 Hz and IH's on up with the high tone, 1200 Hz but being a water hunter, you might want the low conductors set to the high tone to catch your attention for those gold ring finds. You can adjust the "bins" any way you want and assign whatever tones you want for them. You can even raise or lower the ferrous line to accept or reject as much iron as you want and it is all very easy using XChange 2 on your computer.
