CTX & NEW TRAVEL CASE HEADING TO ALASKA

I can not claim this case idea, there was an earlier thread by a military fellow heading to Japan. However here is mine all completed along with space for the pistola. The case is an SKB I Series two gun case, very similar to a pelican case. We are heading to Alaska on 7/18 for two weeks doing an RV self tour.

I wanted to make a gold program for the CTX and was hoping someone may have one, or some idea of bin ranges. I figure if it will find a small lead split shot at 8" it should fnd some small gold.
Any and all help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Have fun on the trip. I lived in Anchorage for 10 years before I moved to Idaho. Loved it. Just make sure you know where you are because there are lots of active claims on most of the rivers up there. Alaska provides a good chance at finding some nuggets along with the smaller stuff. I think there's a detecting club in the Mat-Su Valley around Palmer.

Mason Jarr, we are members of the GPAA, we are planning on hitting some of their claims. Do you have any info on them or heard anything as to quality.

I know they have several spots up there. It's kinda like coin shooting. Sometimes you put the coil on one and sometimes you come up blank. I didn't detect when I lived there, so I didn't look into it much. I did do a little panning and found some flour gold....never any nuggets. Someone told me that every river south of Anchorage has some gold in it. My ex-father-in-law was a partner in a mine on the Kenai Peninsula and once he showed me a box he had that was full of nuggets. I'm talking marble size and larger. They used some heavy equipment to work their claim though, but he said he always found gold when he panned, also. I think you have a good chance to find some. The GPAA folks usually have some moderately successful claims. Plus, with that CTX you can get out in the water as well. The water up there is COLD though so if you have neoprene waders take them along.

MJ, thanks for the info and insight. I'll keep you posted upon my return. Figure I may do some coin shooting around some campgrounds too.

Thanks
Jon

Watch your back for bear's too, might want to take a shotgun just for the mosquitoes I hear they are meaner then the bears, lol, have a fun and successful trip, Gene

I have a gold program that has worked for me anyway that I will try to upload

Thanks, I will keep an eye out for it. Or PM me when you upload it. Thanks, Jon

It's my personal belief that the ctx3030 will be a great nugget shooter. It may not be the best for "fines", but it clearly excels in cutting down the trash I normally have to dig in So CA, and should ID "Pickers" and larger nuggets - IMHO.
Advise from a Canadian pro-mining engineer that owned several CTX's, plus the GPX 5000, is to cut back manually on the Sensitivity settings, but practice first in whatever soil you are working.
Areas differ in Alaska, as to the amount of mineralization - so you need to test each time you relocate.
The CTX can easily cover the frequency for Gold, and coupling the incredible discrimination capabilities of this detector, I'll bet it becomes a very successful nugget shooter, even though Minelab never promotes it that way (they, after all, need to still "market" their other "Gold Units".)
Let us know what success you have, and give us all any guidelines on what works best with this unit.... Thanks, Dave

Very nice - I like the configuration. I am the guy going to Japan - CTX3030 left a month ago - I leave on July 22nd. Of all my personal effects that were shipped, I am NOT worried about the condition of my 3030 - that is a solid case!

You were inspiring and the original, good luck overseas and happy hunting.

I'm still working on the layout of mine. I'm trying to find a way to fit both my CTX and E-trac in there together. It's not looking too promising......
