CTX module line of sight

Well-known member
Just wanted to put this out quick, because this happened to me recently. I had the WM10 in my left rear pocket so it was out of my way in front. I am right handed,so the machine and module had to communicate through/around my body. Signals were weak and scratchy. Put the module back on the front of my harness-audio is correct again. For those who don't know...be sure this is not causing bad audio during your hunt! I detected for over an hour before I thought about why my normally very nice audio went straight down the toilet...

Glad you got it out of the toilet IDX!:)------When we do use our WM 10's, we have it hooked on our belt (behind our back).-----Never have had any trouble with the audio on ours doing it this way.-----------Del

Kevin try placing your module 20 feet away and see if you get a tone from it it should give audio .If you go 30 feet away your pairing light on the module well start flashing which means it's having a hard time picking up the signal . If your pairing light is flashing 3 feet from the detector somethings wrong and well give a distorted signal because it is not receiving the full signal . As you get the two closer together the pairing light well quit flashing and you well get full audio . Now I wonder if your module is weak and is having a hard time picking up the signal from the detector.

I tried this in the house and when I go around a corner in another room the pairing light starts to flash . So if you get tone from the module at 20 feet I don't think it would be the module but going to a different room in the house line of sight does have a effect on the audio either the wall between the two or as you say line of sight . The next time it's starts giving scratchy signals look at the pairing light on the module and see if it's flashing or just repair it and see if it works as should .sube

Mine also wont reliably work if mounted in the small of my back on my belt, even with a fresh charge. Never has. Works 100% mounted in front. And I aint that big a guy so don't think its many many pounds of fat (or muscle) stopping the signal.
No biggie; I just mount it on my side or front.

Yeah it's works a LONG ways away if it's not blocked by something,like...a LONG way! I'll have to keep an eye on the pairing light if it happens again. I've already replaced it once...

I am under the impression my body blocks the signal somewhat.
I also think the WM10 works a little better with the speaker side facing in toward my body not away.
