CTX is Silver Strike King

Hit a school yard this morning starting before daylight. Dug these silvers this morning. I thought I was going to need TNT to get some of them out of the ground. I had to virtually peel my clothes off when I got home due to the heat. There's nothing like the sound of nice sweet silver. Funny thing no quarters at all. That's OK I'll take dimes instead. A couple of these were at 10.5 inches deep. Running ferrous coin, fast on and off, combined mode in auto sensivity. Cheers

sweet dime day congrats!

Yeah BrakinGnus, I actually passed on all 12-40/41/42 signals unless they were deep. I did mange to dig a few wheats by doing this. I will go back to this place, there's got to be more. It needs to rain. I was actually in this place about a week ago. My back's has been bothering me, so all I did was sweep a little while. I saw a few what looked like silvers so I went back this morning with my back feeling better and hunted pretty hard. Will probably try and dig all coin signals next time, unless I start hitting the silver and run out of time.

Great hunt im seeing the same results 9-10 inch dimes the ctx 3030 is a killer machine HH:thumbup:

I hear you man! Now where was that high school again? :detecting:

I have tried so many times find silver unfortunately I am only come up with clad coins is there a secret to finding silver. Would somebody please tell me what I'm doing wrong and give me the corrections thank you.

Silver could be at any depth it depends on where you hunt think about it if your hunting a school you already know so many detectors have already been here keeping that in mind i will dig some shallow signals like 3-4 inches at school yards for a bit but if im not finding wheats at that depth then i stop digging those shallow signals and pay more attention to the deep ones, with all the time that's past and fill dirt added to school grounds it saves allot of time passing up those shallow signals that are more then likely clad. Now for old home sites i dig all depths because you never now whats in the ground, parks are questionable i use the same principle i dig a few 3-4 inch signals but if im not seeing wheat's then i look for the deeper signals HH

I don't intend this to sound simplistic, but the secret to finding silver is to detect where there is silver, and pass your coil over it. Seriously, that is the only difference between finding silver and finding clad. Although to some of us (including me) it seems like only a few years ago that silver coins were discontinued, it has been 48 years ago. With that said, don't expect to find many silver coins in parks or places that are less than +/- 35 years old. Research your areas and find older places that others have neglected to detect. I probably spend an hour of research for every couple hours of hunting. That may sound extreme, but the results will speak for themselves. JMHO HH Randy

Wow, what a haul. Seeing that makes me want to leave Germany and come right back to the States! I have 7 silver this year and that is from a honey hole!
Ok, so if I do come back, I imagine there is more silver on the eastern side of the States and it gets less as you go out west or ???

Good job,
Albert

Squirrel 1 with that many dimes I think that school from the mid 30s I don't see any barbers in there that's a sweet hall congrats to you.

WOW!! what a haul on the dimes that is awesome! Is that a new site, has it been hunted before? Did you get any deep nickel signals?

congrats,

Randy

The CTX is finding a lot of silver, and other finds, because it's better at trash separation at depth. I ran my ETRAC over this one little spot for months every time I went to hunt there, and it wasn't able to find good targets with all the nails in the ground. It would just null. I take the CTX there, and every time I go I'm pulling silver dimes at 10", some of which come out covered in rust with iron on them. The ETRAC couldn't do that. Now you'll hear ETRAC users who haven't even used a CTX yet start to say how I must've missed those dimes, or I didn't know how to use my ETRAC properly. Riiiiight. Maybe it's as simple as I've taken both to the same locations and one performed better, thus ending the debate for me because I'm convinced from experience that the CTX > ETRAC. I don't expect to find silver every time out for the same reasons as you stated, but the CTX has opened up a whole new level of hunting in deep trash that none of the other MD's have been able to do, so I'm also not shocked that it keeps finding a lot the other machines have missed. ;)

Wow - you murdered the silver Squirrel - tremendous day in anyone's book!
