CTX HELP

Ok here is the scenario. You have seen the yardstick test where a two nails are laid down with the head of nails on either side of coin. ----------/ O \---------- sweeping the coil length ways right to left or vice versa my ctx can see both the nails and the coin. I get a red reject in lower right corner of screen for the nails and i get a nice good circle target in black in my accepted area of screen. I can not get the ctx to make a good sound for the good target unless i open up about 90 percent of the screen and leave the bottom right hand corner rejected. Even then it is not a decent tone until i have the 6 in coil at least 3 inches above the targets on my swing. Why don't the engineers at minelab have setting where you can set your sound to give sounds for your accepted area only where your screen is open? Yes i know you can go into tones and move some of the areas, but i would like an exact fit to my accepted areas only. And why even after having a 90 percent open screen will it not sound off at like 1 or 2 in above the targets i have to be at least 3 to get a tone and then at 4 - 6 it gets really weak. But if i pull the nails away the tone is very strong with the 6 in coil to 8 in easily.

If your that close to the target it's basically an overload , When you get to 4 to 6 inches away the nails are trying to mask the good audio which they are so the good signal well get weaker and weaker faster then just a coin target as you get farther away even if you can hit it at eight inches . Try swinging the other way it well be a good signal to 8 inches because the nails are not as effected masking this way .

Why don't the engineers at mine lab have setting where you can set your sound to give sounds for your accepted area only where your screen is open? Yes i know you can go into tones and move some of the areas, but i would like an exact fit to my accepted areas only.

Wish it could be done but the reason why you not getting it in your accepted area is he detector is seeing 2 targets instead of one .
Using less disc will see more than using more that's why you can use your disc pattern for hunting and when you get a questionable signal go to open screen #2 which will clear some of this up but not all .

Using more disc on just a coin target as long as that type of coin is not disc out is not a problem but when it's with iron it is because the nails are trying to over power the good signal there by making it weaker and harder for the machine to see . sube

It shows up really strong on the screen , but it is really hard to just watch that tiny screen all the time. I could hunt more wide open but i would be there all dang day checking signals where i hunt , with one sweep of coil with no disc it sounds like a machine gun with so many targets under coil in places where i hunt. It should not be hard for Minelab to come up with a way to get only the target to sound off in your accepted area, the machine sees it easily no problem with multiple trash items. When and if they do they will corner a lot more of the metal detecting market than they already do. I hope someone at minelab is reading these posts. Machine seperates good targets from trash as good or better than any machine out there just getting the machine to give the tone on the good item when there is also trash should not be hard at all if the machine can already visually show it on the screen.

If you check back thru some very recent posts this is being discussed.

This why you have 4 bins for your tones if you set your nickel bin 12.11 to 12.15 and your other coins 12 .29 to 12,50 at 1000hz you will only miss a few American coins the reason there set that high is so they stick out above all the other trash and garbage the other bins can be set lower in hz I like to keep it simple only one tone to listen to ignore the rest but if you get in a area that's got less junk you can set your bins anyway you like depending on what your looking for. sube

I will check that out Gabby, guess i should read more posts before i post. I have been experimenting for days now. Actually if you totally open the screen up the ctx is as good as a xp deus at seperation on the nail board test. You can swing the coil as fast as you want and you will hear 3 distinct seperate tones all the same sound but you can hear 3 targets. I can swing the coil as fast as i can and i can still hear all 3. Deus engineers have just come up with a way to hear the coin tone where minelab has not. I can see where the guys relic hunting in open pastures with very little trash can hunt in a nearly wide open screen then get a target and test it with another pattern... Like i said its just not possible where i hunt i could not detect a 10ft by 10ft square in an hour i have so much trash to deal with. I have a deus on the way got a feeling i will be selling my ctx most likely.
