CTX Headphones

I purchased the Gray Ghost. You might find that you have to turn the volume up a bit. I like them very much.

Been testing these for a while...about 300 plus hours, over, under, in salt water.

I'm just an occasional fresh water hunter and I don't have any complaints about the yellow Koss headphones but if you water hunt a lot or in the surf, you will probably want to buy better ones. Needing more volume in the surf seems to be a common complaint.

What do you use for land hunting and which would you prefer...yellows or your land...

Land use is SunRay Golds Joe...

Thanks Larry, just wondering what land hunters use with the CTX (And Prefer) since I can make the water proof headphones with any speakers. The Sunray Pro's use the 2463's I believe, same as I have tested over the summer in the saltwater.

Joe - I just switched from the stock to the Sunray Pro Golds as well. I did like the sound of the stocks phones but went through three pair in about six months. They are made like crap

I just received the Grey Ghost underwater for the CTX...there is no volume control...I will see how they are in the morning :detecting:

I agree with jerseyjim! The Gray Ghost is very comfortable wearing it sometimes 5 hours or more on the beach. It is definitely waterproof. You just have to readjust the volume up from the standard headphones.

Are you referring turning up the volume onthe machine?...I bought the waterpfroof GG for thee 3030 and there is no volume control...also how do you turn up the "gain"...is that on the machine?...thank you for any help offered

I know this is supposed to be a great machine, but I am rembering why I was not so fond of th Explorers

One of the things I would recommend is to download the owners manual off of the Minelab site, it is over 70 pages when I printed it out so I could look up different things while I am learning it. With the CTX 3030 I find there is much more to learn that I ever seen on the Explorers or E Trac, so it is going to take a while for me and I am sure others too, but don't give up and use it and learn something new every day. The Explorers, E-Trac and the CTX 3030 along with many other higher end detectors have a learning curve and it is done by using it the more the better. If you use it a couple hours a week it may take a while as these are made for those serious about the detector and probably used them 15-30 hours a week or more.
I got to say I haven't used mine a lot because of my health and running my bar I own, so I am slow at learning it, but give me a Minelab Sovereign and it is so easy to use that I can find stuff others walk right over. The reason is I spent the time back in the late 90 early 2000s and really got to know it well. This is why I highly recommend printing out the owners manual and read it quite often as there is so much the 3030 can do with the different settings and setting it up for your preference.

Good Luck and hope you do well with your 3030 as it can do it if you understand it.

Rick

You definitely need to print out the manual like Rick mentioned. I have been reading it since I purchased the machine. I downloaded it on my smart phone so I can take it into the field. There is so much to learn. Have fun doing it, I go to the manual all the time.

Printing it up is the 1st thing I did, but it is difficult to understand the instructions...Gatekeeper helped me some and Harry has been with me all weekend his instructions are actually understandable...I don't think that Minelsb's are at all easy to follow

Harry is a Saint, he sent me a ton of instructions and relieved a great deal of my frustration with not being able to work with the machine
